For that quiet and relaxing holiday in the heart of romantic Galloway. Castle Cary has much to offer, and constantly adds to and improves its facilities year after year. We can now offer a range of seasonal timber clad lodges and winterised all season holiday homes.

At the centre of our holiday park lies an old Scottish baronial-style castle dating from around 1580. The Laird’s Inn, converted from part of the old castle, is most welcoming with it’s ‘olde worlde’ charm, created by a décor of wooden beams, stone walls and open fires.

On a sunny day you can sit, drink, eat and relax on its large terrace, enjoying magnificent panoramic views over fields, woodlands and the estuary of the river Cree.

A comprehensive range of facilities and activities awaits you on site. We have normal hard-standing pitches with electricity and water connections for tourers or Super Deluxe touring pitches with drainage, TV aerial connection, dyke or fence and hedge separation.

We have a range of 2 and 3 rental accommodation available for nightly stays (3 night minimum stay). Some of our units are pet friendly.

Loved it!!

McIntyre, Susan - 06/08/2022

Had an absolutely fantastic time camping at Castle Cary, the camping area was really spacious and quiet and we were able to choose where we pitched up. I would recommend staying a bit further away from the road side of the the site just mainly for the noise of cars, lorries etc through the night. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the swimming pools were great fun, the cafe sold lots of swimming accessories and water toys at reasonable prices also which was handy! I would highly recommend booking a table at the Lairds Inn, the food was delicious and it did get very busy! We visited the Cocobean Factory for the chocolate workshop which was only 20 minutes away from the campsite which was really handy and you get given lots of information for shops and other amenities nearby and emergency phone numbers which I thought was a good idea if you're not familiar with the area.

Smith, Alison - 06/08/2022

Campsite is in need of some tlc, toilets were dirty the mop was a health hazard. They put a us ..a couple in the pitch at the playpark. There was no need for this as plenty other empty pitches. On the plus side the food at the restaurant was lovely

Has great potential

The park itself is really nice, we camped in non electric and the pitch was in really good condition. The site could do with another block of toilets though. You can get views of the river Cree, but also close to main road. The traffic noise did ruin it a bit for us even being way back from the main road. When we booked it did say beach access, not quite sure where this was. We did explore and couldn’t find it. The arcade was a joke. The 2p machine was rigged every time the coins fell down they didn’t come out at the bottom, there was a piece of metal in place to stop them coming down!!?Two of the machines we put a pound into and got nothing so we gave up as there was no one to ask. The cafe was ok. Breakfasts need improving. Overcooked and greasy and the shop could do with selling more fresh items. You had to book the pool so I thought this would be to stop overcrowding, but both pools were full to the point you couldn’t really move and there was no one monitoring it which is a shame.

Lively, Family Friendly Park

Macfadyen, Ailidh - 04/08/2022

I stayed in a non electric camping pitch with my fiancée, while his parents, nieces and dogs stayed in their motorhome. The non electric field is large - we stayed down the bottom near the road. Road noise was worth the trade off for loads of space! The girls loved the outdoor pool and so did we, swimming outside in Scotland is a rarity! £2.50 entry for adults, £2 for kids. Theres also an indoor pool. We had drinks in the beer garden at the Lairds Inn which also does food. There’s a park and an arcade for the kids. The shower block got a bit grubby with grass but there is a mop provided. It’s a 15 minute walk into Creetown which has a small shop and less than 15 minutes drive into Newton Stewart. This is a pretty part of Scotland, with lots to explore locally. It’s not luxurious but us as adults and the kids liked it - We will definitely return.

We have now been here 2 years in a row and will be booking again for 2023.Everything was great and our kids love it.My only gripe would be the outdoor pool, the grounds around are very rough and not kind on the feet.

Pleasant camping break

Cochrane, Jennifer - 02/08/2022

When we arrived someone was in our pitch. This also happened to other members of our party who were relocated in another area of the park. The park continued to sell pitch 6 which is not useable due to rough ground, therefore people were pitching further down reducing the space we had on our pitch (which was not actually allocated to us).Toilets were of poor standard. Showers in some blocks were unusable due to extreme temperature of water and not safe, specially for children. Pool was good and cafe was nice. No accessible beach close by which was a shake but some nice walks close by. We took our dog and he was very welcome. Pub on site is lovely and had a nice meal on last night.
