For that quiet and relaxing holiday in the heart of romantic Galloway. Castle Cary has much to offer, and constantly adds to and improves its facilities year after year. We can now offer a range of seasonal timber clad lodges and winterised all season holiday homes.
At the centre of our holiday park lies an old Scottish baronial-style castle dating from around 1580. The Laird’s Inn, converted from part of the old castle, is most welcoming with it’s ‘olde worlde’ charm, created by a décor of wooden beams, stone walls and open fires.
On a sunny day you can sit, drink, eat and relax on its large terrace, enjoying magnificent panoramic views over fields, woodlands and the estuary of the river Cree.
A comprehensive range of facilities and activities awaits you on site. We have normal hard-standing pitches with electricity and water connections for tourers or Super Deluxe touring pitches with drainage, TV aerial connection, dyke or fence and hedge separation.
We have a range of 2 and 3 rental accommodation available for nightly stays (3 night minimum stay). Some of our units are pet friendly.

The area for tents is huge and quite flat with neatly cut grass . There is a nice view over the bay and a pleasant walk around the site . It`s quite a long walk to the shower and toilet building ( no signs to tell you which way to go ) , but the facilities are really very good and not crowded . There is some traffic noise from the nearby main road , but this is not too bad . The entry and access roads are rather small and there is only one way in and out . Fortunately , there wasn`t much vehicle movement when I was there . There is a petrol station conveniently located just across the road . Staff were all very nice .
We have just had a 6 night break at Castle Cary and the changes from are last visit are fantastic, the cafe and Lairds Inn are a must as the food and service is top class, we are now looking to are next visit in September.
Stayed here for one night while travelling around Scotland was so impressed with the site that we have booked to stay longer in August. Must say the staff are absolutely wonderful very polite and helpful nothing is to much trouble. Look forward to visiting again
We booked here a little last minute and at first I wasn’t sure as it was so close my childhood home town which wasn’t great memories. However, this place was a great little find, it was beautiful, and the pitches were superb. I would 100% come back. The heated outdoor pool was a massive bonus for the children and they loved, during our stay my little boys conference went through the roof with the amount of timeHe spent in there. The staff were faultless, they were so kind and chatty, went above and beyond to help you. The little cafe had something for everyone, simple but great menu. We played laser tag in the woods at night which was fab. The little on-site pub was great for grabbing a drink and watching the kids play on the park or doing roly-poly‘s down the hill. I do believe the pub is only open Wednesday- Sunday and you should book on for a table. The showers were spotless (where the laundrette was). Free mini golf to which we only found out on the last d
Very friendly staff easy to find your pitch great facilities
We have been here 3 times before and enjoyed it.This time we were put down next to the toilet block that was constantly busy.Where I was parked was full of large rocks, not at all completely finished. My view was a toilet block with overflowing bins where there was no attempt to clear.I had to stand with my hand on the shower pipe so water would run down my arm to rinse myself. If anyone flushed the toilet or washed their hands after using the toilet you had no water in the shower. There are other sites all around so I will and have booked them.I spoke to quite a few other people who were of the same opinion. Jim.M.
Unisex toilets/showers put me off letting my 8 year girl go to the toilet herself…. The toilet could be cleaner! Some bike racks about the camp site needed my sons bike got ran over by a car. Kids enjoyed playing in the Forest and play park. Would visit again, staff are lovely and helpful.
Fab site booked to come back again as soon as we got home. Staff are lovely . Pool is good stones are a pain tho but kids loved it. Sites itself was really good , only problem we had was it was noisy. Security where driving round and said nothing and it was midnight . Or they would turn it down then turn it up again. Hardly got any sleep whilest there . Then generators going very early waking people up . Other than that it was a great site and we can't wait to come back with friends
Fabulous campsite, setting was amazing with a short cliff side walk to Portpatrick you really couldn’t ask for anything else. The bathroom facilities were 5 star clean, modern and with everything you would need lovely hosts as well who gave us a warm greeting. One tiny comment would be that was no hot water available in the washing area but the block did lookquite new so maybe this was just a case of the block not being quite finished.Really would recommend.
Lovely welcome on arrival at this campsite, we stayed in a tent in the non electric field which really suited us. As not as busy as the electric hook up field. We had an excellent pitch with our neighbours quiet a distance away. Everyone on the campsite staff and other holiday makers were so very friendly, The toilet and shower block has everything you need but could do with revamping a little. But despite that absolutely perfect. We have camped for over 30 years with our boys, but now they are all grown up and we are enjoying camping on our own now. We will definitely be back. 😃
