Situated outside the village of Creetown in Wigtownshire, Castle Cary Holiday Park offers guests a quiet and relaxing holiday in the heart of romantic Galloway. The Park has so much to offer, and aims to develop its facilities for guests year after year.

For tourers or motorhomes, choose between a hard-standing pitch with electricity and water connections or a touring pitch with drainage, water and electricity. The Park also has fully serviced hard- standing with grass pitches (some of which permit an awning). Grass pitches are also available for tents or tourers with or without electricity.

For those seeking a more luxury getaway, the Park offers a range of seasonal timber clad lodges and winterised all-season holiday homes.

Castle Cary has a fantastic range of on site amenities, including an insulated chalet-style building with showers, toilets, and baby changing facilities. In addition to these, the chalet also houses a disabled-access toilet, a laundry room with sinks and a dishwashing area.

The activities on site are next to none, namely the indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools which add a splash of added fun to your stay (small charge applies). For younger campers, a heated paddling pool is on hand, as well as a playground, crazy golf course, and a games room with pool tables and video games.

At the centre of the holiday park lies an old Scottish baronial-style castle dating from around 1580. The Laird’s Inn, converted from part of the old castle, is most welcoming with it’s ‘olde worlde’ charm, created by a décor of wooden beams, stone walls and open fires. Further to this, a family-run café opens daily onsite and serves breakfasts, meals, snacks, coffees and sweet treats.

On a sunny day you can sit, drink, eat and relax on its large terrace, enjoying magnificent panoramic views over fields, woodlands and the estuary of the river Cree.

The Park is located within the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere Reserve, which covers most of South West Scotland and is a testament to the low levels of light pollution attracting Dark Sky enthusiasts worldwide.

Kirroughtree Forest and Visitor Centre sits 5 miles to the north of Castle Cary and is home to the world class 7Stanes mountain bike venue, offering a variety of routes for bikers of all levels, bike shop, endless walking routes and café.

The market own of Newton Stewart is located 7 miles north west of Castle Cary and has a wider range of amenities including supermarkets and a high school. Newton Stewart is known as the ‘Gateway to the Galloway Hills’ providing visitors with thousands of miles of hillwalking in the area.

Some basic maintenance would benefit this site, the fishing on site could be improved with basic information, crazy golf was a mess, a lick of paint and a tidy up and would be good to go, bins overflowing, too many pitches crammed in together, toilet block is immaculate, on site bar/restaurant was good.

Friendly Welcome

A lovely friendly welcome on arrival , very laid back yet professional.Directed us to our pitch, thoughtfully placed next to the play park as we were travelling with 3 young children.Site accepted our very large motorhome (some parks panic when they see us pull up - 30m American RV)No problems Only 1 issue was the old bits of metal sticking out of the ground in the play park 😬

New Year Family and friends stay

Stevenson, Rebekka - 08/01/2024

Couldn’t fault the park, very little to do due to time of year everything shut. Little walk to shower block/ toilets as block being renovated. Shower and toilet facilities very clean. Issue at the pub sadly spoilt our holiday. Pub on old years night was a complete shambles £270 spent in the establishment to be treated appallingly- I emailed them 8/9 days ago and not even the decency to reply to my email. Poor customer service and rushed as they had made too many bookings. Over crowding and tables being double booked left us with no choice to leave the pub by 8.15pm disappointed family and friends when we had planned to spend old years night here. Happy to take our money and then be punted out the door. Due to this we did not visit the rest of our holiday and have even more limited things to do. After visiting in the summer this was disappointing and as a group on reflection we have decided we might not return here. Unless things were to change.

Nice but needs some TLC

Finch, Nerys - 06/01/2024

3

Lovely site with big well organised pitches. However the site was waterlogged when we arrived and a burst water pipe meant our pitch was constantly wet. That said, everyone was friendly, the pub was great and good value. Just feels a bit run dien and could do with some TLC

Excellent Customer Service at Castle Cary Holiday Park

Chisholm, Ewen - 22/12/2023

5

I had booked in for one night only as a part of a longer cycling trip I am undertaking. I had advised during online booking that I would be arriving late in the day. On the morning of my arrival date Lorna at Castle Cary called me to let me know that the reception staff would be away by the time I arrived and to ask if I would be go okay in locating the pitch by myself but would text me the onsite wardens details should I have any difficulty. As it turned out I arrived earlier than planned and Lorna welcomed me to the site, provided me with local information, bus timetables, somewhere I could store my bike etc and could not have been any more helpful. The campsite was quiet and they had thoughtfully given me a pitch close to the shower/toilet block which was ideal as I would not have far to walk given the rain that was coming down. The campsite is in a beautiful location and although the pub was closed as it was on winter hours it looked very welcoming.I will definitely be back
