Carrick Dhu Caravan Park

4.7 (120 reviews)

With the Atlantic Ocean just across from the Park entrance, holidaymakers have easy access to rock pools, and further coastal walks into both Portrush and Portstewart. These can be enjoyed along the spectacular Port Path (also known as the Ulster Way / Causeway Coast Way).

Carrick Dhu Holiday Park is located on the Causeway Coastal Route, the A2 Portrush to Portstewart Road running between these two popular seaside resorts. Situated just outside Portrush, visitors can enjoy the award-winning West Bay beach, at least two local restaurants and Ballyreagh Golf Course all within a kilometre's walk.

We have invested considerably in the provision of completely new touring pitches for caravans and motorhomes – while this has reduced the number available to 35, they are more spacious and with hard surfacing for vehicles / caravans, they offer better conditions in all weathers.

Some pitches are longer - pitches 14 to 18 - and more suitable for motorhomes. Artificial grass offers further comfort, and securing awnings will require metal pegs, which are to be inserted in the natural grass just at the edge of the artificial grass, and, if required for just next to a caravan, sandbags (supplied) for tying to.

Our on site facilities include 35 Touring caravan / motorhome hard-surfaced fully serviced pitches, modern family shower/laundry facilities with disabled access, and a safe and accessible children’s outdoor play area. Guests can also avail of our onsite Chip Shop, Coffee Shop, our Recreation/Table Tennis Hall and a helpful Visitor Information Centre.

The Atlantic Ocean is just across from the Park entrance with easy access to rock pools, and further coastal walks into both Portrush and Portstewart can be enjoyed along the spectacular Port Path (also known as the Ulster Way / Causeway Coast Way): alternatively, why not try cycling along the Sustrans off-road route, or relax on the regular scheduled bus service? All options start from just outside the Park.

Well run and efficient, no worries or problems.

All good, the warden was very helpful when I arrived, marking out the route to my pitch on a site map. Facilities are good, clean and functional. The pitches are quite close together which wasn't a problem in October, but worth bearing in mind if you're arriving in high season. Also worth noting that the car gate closes at midnight so you have to be back inside before that. Unless you're on foot of course. Campervan pitch was tarmac, with a strip of artificial grass beside it which would be convenient in wet weather I imagine.

Well cared for site

We have been visiting carrick dhu for about 25 years now and previously before that as a a child with my own parents. It has transformed a lot in the past number of years with fully serviced pitches. The groundsmen do an amazing job. Grounds are kept neat and tidy around vans and toilet blocks are always spotless. Very friendly and accommodating warden at present. Just hard to actually get booked on these days, particularly around popular times. The system for booking is good but when it comes to booking for the Easter period when link first opens is an absolute nightmare and fails every time for us. Love it 😊

One of the best kept bathroom facilities in n.Ireland. Love the location as able to walk to Portstewart and Portrush If feeling the walk is too much can walk out to the side gate and get regular bus service.

Family friendly site,

Carrick Dhu has always been a firm favourite of ours, from the minute you arrive to the friendly staff of Trevor and Margaret and not forgetting Matthew they are always so attentive to your needs. The facilities are so Clean and their is always staff making sure everything is clean and tidy. Carrick dhu is very safe for kids to play around on their bikes and at the park. The only downside is there is no onside shop which would be a very big asset to the site. There is so much attractions close by or just a short walk away, it is definitely a great spot to park your motorhome or caravan when you decide to travel. Also being able to book the overflow would be essential also.

Very clean and organised caravan site. The toilets and showers are spotless. Roomy pitches with grass, tarmac and artificial grass. . sites are levelEasy walk into Portrush via. Instal path . Tides restaurant across the road. Would recommendJust be aware there is a pound needed for the showers, which have ample hot water for 7 minutes so bring plenty of coins .

Very friendly team welcomed us to the Park, which is in an excellent location with restaurants within walking distance. Onsite showers are amazing! You’ll need a £1 (7 minutes which proved ample) but they were so good we went evening & morning!!

Fantastic weekend

Graham, Kathryn - 17/09/2026

From the minute we pulled up in our caravan to the minute we left it was a great experience. Margaret was very attentive and knowledgeable. The pitches were excellent loved the artificial grass with the tie downs. The toilet blocks were clean and well maintained. The showers even though you paid £1 for 7 minutes were powerful and loved the fact you could change the temperature only down fall is the cold didn’t go as cold as I would’ve liked. The park, the walks and the caravan site is well maintained. Thank you for a great experience we have rebooked for a couple of weeks time.
