Great stopover.

Although very early in the Season (mid March), the site was well prepared, providing us with what we needed for a leisurely night stop. The dog had a great walk from the site and we ended up in the village which, if a little quiet, was at least fascinating architecturally. If our homeward route is anywhere nearby, we shall certainly return.

Great owner run campsite

Dunbar, Rod And Di (b) - 03/10/2024

Very well run friendly, large pitches, very clean and spacious toilet blocks. We rocked up around 7ish and was met by Jane who instructed on best available pitches and good overview of site and area. The restaurant was closing by the time we got to the bar but they made an exception and gave us a meal… thank you.Relaxed evenings in the bar and social area with locals also enjoying the evening festivities which in turn helps in understanding the area, history and local eating houses to go to. Was made to feel very welcome by the owners and very helpful when had problem with the van. Enjoyed the restaurant food, wine beer and company.I left caravan there for storage and looking forward to next season. A big thanks to Jane and James for making our stay with you very enjoyable. See you next season.Rod and Di

Well it was a very warm welcome , and my van was all set up and ready for me which is a great .. the place is lovely, even though the weather wasn’t the best , the experience is great , there could be a few improvements , but they are quite minor and I’m sure they will be rectified once this review is read ... It’s the little touches that ,make a difference I was alone on my holiday and it was my birthday and Jayne came to my caravan with a card and box of chocolates ... how lovely .... they had a band on and that was a fantastic night the band was plus atmosphere , it’s a nice site and lots of people return , so that says something ..they had a charity afternoon tea day and raised over 1000 euro ... and it was great ... Personally I would have liked is a little onsight shop for milk and eggs and bits .YoU see, I had no vehicle but jayne took me to the supermarket ....so if someone to manned reception at a regular time and sold essentials etc it would be beneficiali

A Firm Favourite

We have been visiting this site for about eight years. It is stuated in a rural part of France; the real France. There are many historical, some medieval, towns within easy reach. The River Thouet runs close to the campsite. The name Thouet derives from the ancient Gallic word for tranquil which describes it perfectly. You can cycle or walk along the river in either direction for miles. There are many exciting attractions for those with children within an hours drive. There is a small Tourist information office just ten minutes walk away in town. There is also a patisserie with Pain aux Raisin to die for :)The campsite owners, James and Jayne are very helpful and friendly as are everyone concerned with running the site. You might have realised that I am a bit of a fan. Try it for youself.
