Our touring campsite and glamping pods are dotted about this wonderful and secluded landscape surrounded by natural and arable land. The river ‘Nairn’ can be accessed from the site and in the Spring it’s banks are covered with thousands of bluebells.
It’s a place a world apart from the rush and clutter of the modern holiday experience, with an atmosphere that makes you forget the world outside, and just lounge, ramble, or potter about.
We're committed to giving you a genuinely individual service from first contact to your time staying with us and “contribute to making happy memories every day”.
On Site is an ancient archaeological monument. This monument is locally known as 'Hangman's Cairn' and is an excellent example of a well-preserved Bronze Age Barrow and contemporary surrounding bank. The monument comprises a sub-circular mound, measuring around 25 m in diameter and standing to a height of around 3.3 m.
Our large 12m x 7m hard-standing touring pitches are arranged sympathetically around the Site to allow for different views wherever you pitch up. All these pitches have electricity, and a water tap is shared between two pitches. One hard-standing pitch situated near the toilet block is a dedicated disabled pitch.
The grass pitches are there for the smaller vehicles - roof tents, campervans, small motor homes and very small tents and are located overlooking the nature park and pond. A number of these pitches have electricity. Water taps are shared amongst the grass pitches. For non electric tent pitches you will be shown to a suitable spot.
One of our recent additions to the site is a dedicated ‘Nearly wild camping’ area. Situated slightly away from the other campers, sheltered behind a large hill offering a more relaxed feel for 4x4 vehicles and the likes while still being able to access toilet facilities if required.
Existing Electric grass tent bookings will be on a 10 m x 4 m pitch. It is the clients responsibility to ensure their tent, guy lines and awning fit in this space.
The campsite features 2 Glamping Pods. Sitting outside the pods, facing southwards you look out over the farmland and have direct views to the ancient monument on the site. Each insulated and heated pod sleeps up to two people. There is a small kitchen unit with a sink, a kettle and a toaster. Toilet and shower facilities are close by. All Pods are strictly pet free. No exceptions.
Accessible through a gate from the campground, you and your four-legged friend can take a stroll through the nature park. Walk around the pond and sit and enjoy the views. Dogs are welcome to walk off the lead in this nature park, but we ask the owners to look after their four-legged friends at all times. It goes without saying to please clean up after your dog.
In the pond there are gold fish and many frogs. Fishing this pond is not allowed however feel free to enjoy a refreshing swim.
Our Glamping Pods face southwards looking over the farmland and sleep up to two adults (and one infant but you will need to bring your own travel cot)
There is a small kitchen unit with a sink, kettle and toaster. Cowder and Nairn Pod comes with a bed and mattress, full bedding available to rent at £12 per stay. (Contact the campsite in regards to bedding rental) Toilet and shower facilities are close by.

A spacious campsite within cycle distance of Nairn and Cawdor Castle and easy driving to Culloden and Fort George.
Easy to find. Very friendly & efficient reception. Spotlessly clean in good facilities. Very well spaced pitches & good to be serviced. Very open aspect with good views over the countryside & the narrow. Excellent dog walk on site. So much to see & do in the area -Cawdor Castle, Fort George, a trip on the train from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh. Useful having a small shop on site. Loved it!
First impressions were fantastic lovely pod, great views very peaceful. Location great. Toilets very clean.
Super clean facilities with friendly staff. Well organised site - one of the best I've stayed at
Bon accueil, personnel très sympathique, propre !Je recommande à 100%
We've been to Barrow many times, and loved it! (we have two Tibetan Terriers and this site has to be one of their favourite places they've ever been to, the sheer glee is very evident😁️) but it'd been almost a year since since our last visit, during which time the large and only other decent site in the Nairn area, Delnies woods, a Camping & Caravan club site, & just along the road from Barrow had closed. So we weren't sure the impact of that on Barrow? We were delighted to find that while the site had been super busy during the summer months it hadn't adversely affected Barrow at all. All the staff here are very friendly and welcoming and work very hard to maintain the place to outstanding levels of cleanliness and functionality. Special shout out to Gary & Misty who hit about 15 out of 10 on the friendly & helpful scale. We have family in the area hence the many visits but we also combine spending time with them with visits to the 21 + distilleries with visitor centres in the area,
Our first visit here, a lovely site in open countryside with views all around. We enjoyed our stay and would return.
This site is a bit tucked away which makes it very quiet, but is close to Nairn with its excellent beaches and shops. It is ideally placed for exploring the Moray coast and firth. The site is well maintained with spotless toilet and showers. There is even a small shop with essentials included wine and beer(!). It is very dog friendly with one of the best dog walk areas we have ever found, which takes you down to the river Nairn. The peaceful nature of the site makes it a haven for wildlife. Flocks of sparrows and goldfinches, wagtails and hooded crows kept us entertained, and at night badgers and foxes could be picked out by torchlight while doing the late night dog walk. The toilets and showers were under a bit of pressure when the site was very full (especially when there are a lot of tents). Otherwise I can completely recommend this site, we will definitely be coming back.
The site was busy, yet remained peaceful. Great facilities and spotlessly clean.
