Our touring campsite and glamping pods are dotted about this wonderful and secluded landscape surrounded by natural and arable land. The river ‘Nairn’ can be accessed from the site and in the Spring it’s banks are covered with thousands of bluebells.
It’s a place a world apart from the rush and clutter of the modern holiday experience, with an atmosphere that makes you forget the world outside, and just lounge, ramble, or potter about.
We're committed to giving you a genuinely individual service from first contact to your time staying with us and “contribute to making happy memories every day”.
On Site is an ancient archaeological monument. This monument is locally known as 'Hangman's Cairn' and is an excellent example of a well-preserved Bronze Age Barrow and contemporary surrounding bank. The monument comprises a sub-circular mound, measuring around 25 m in diameter and standing to a height of around 3.3 m.
Our large 12m x 7m hard-standing touring pitches are arranged sympathetically around the Site to allow for different views wherever you pitch up. All these pitches have electricity, and a water tap is shared between two pitches. One hard-standing pitch situated near the toilet block is a dedicated disabled pitch.
The grass pitches are there for the smaller vehicles - roof tents, campervans, small motor homes and very small tents and are located overlooking the nature park and pond. A number of these pitches have electricity. Water taps are shared amongst the grass pitches. For non electric tent pitches you will be shown to a suitable spot.
One of our recent additions to the site is a dedicated ‘Nearly wild camping’ area. Situated slightly away from the other campers, sheltered behind a large hill offering a more relaxed feel for 4x4 vehicles and the likes while still being able to access toilet facilities if required.
Existing Electric grass tent bookings will be on a 10 m x 4 m pitch. It is the clients responsibility to ensure their tent, guy lines and awning fit in this space.
The campsite features 2 Glamping Pods. Sitting outside the pods, facing southwards you look out over the farmland and have direct views to the ancient monument on the site. Each insulated and heated pod sleeps up to two people. There is a small kitchen unit with a sink, a kettle and a toaster. Toilet and shower facilities are close by. All Pods are strictly pet free. No exceptions.
Accessible through a gate from the campground, you and your four-legged friend can take a stroll through the nature park. Walk around the pond and sit and enjoy the views. Dogs are welcome to walk off the lead in this nature park, but we ask the owners to look after their four-legged friends at all times. It goes without saying to please clean up after your dog.
In the pond there are gold fish and many frogs. Fishing this pond is not allowed however feel free to enjoy a refreshing swim.
Our Glamping Pods face southwards looking over the farmland and sleep up to two adults (and one infant but you will need to bring your own travel cot)

We used Barrow campsite at the start and end of our trip into NC500. I joined my family late into the holiday in the night, and I really loved the convenience from the airport while also having the proper wilderness experience of the camping. The facilities were very clean and well maintained and I found the owners very polite and considerate. Will look forward to coming back.
A very easy to access and spacious site. A very friendly warden who was informative and helpful. All the facilities you could want are present. Very efficient tumble drier- unlike so many we used this holiday! Lovely showers. If we had to find a negative it would be that the site is so open that it feels barren and desolate. I wouldn’t want to camp here in bad weather without hedges or trees for protection.
We had a lovely stay at Barrow. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Facilities were well maintained. Super spaces for dogs. Bonny surroundings. We dined at One One Two on the Brae - amazing food! Connage Cheese - so much choice. *Some of the pitches are surrounded with sleepers that are coated in creosote. Unaware, we sat on these for a restafter putting up our awning and transferred the creosote from out clothes to the soft furnishings in our caravan - a nightmare to remove!
As above
Great location, quiet, good starting point for various activities in north east scotland. Clean and sufficient showers and bathrooms. Very friendly lady at the entrance. Restaurants are not very close but at 3 miles distance in Nairn. All in all a very pleasant experience.
Very informative via email for access to site and pitch number. Very friendly and helpful site warden who took the time to chat while walking his lovely dog. He also advised us on the best chip shop in Nairn....he was right! 😋The site is very well maintained, very clean and great to see it has a designated dog walk. The pitch spaces are great with plenty space between them yet close enough to say hello to your neighbour! We will definitely be back and have recommended it already to our friends.
Very quiet and exceptionally clean throughout... so good I went back on my return of the NC500.
Unlike many campsites, Barrow was quite spacious. We were there with a camper, it was really easy to navigate and you have quite a lot of private space. Washrooms, showers are spotless, would recommend to anyone.
Nice small quite campsite not much there but great facilities and friendly staff
