Our touring campsite and glamping pods are dotted about this wonderful and secluded landscape surrounded by natural and arable land. The river ‘Nairn’ can be accessed from the site and in the Spring it’s banks are covered with thousands of bluebells.
It’s a place a world apart from the rush and clutter of the modern holiday experience, with an atmosphere that makes you forget the world outside, and just lounge, ramble, or potter about.
We're committed to giving you a genuinely individual service from first contact to your time staying with us and “contribute to making happy memories every day”.
On Site is an ancient archaeological monument. This monument is locally known as 'Hangman's Cairn' and is an excellent example of a well-preserved Bronze Age Barrow and contemporary surrounding bank. The monument comprises a sub-circular mound, measuring around 25 m in diameter and standing to a height of around 3.3 m.
Our large 12m x 7m hard-standing touring pitches are arranged sympathetically around the Site to allow for different views wherever you pitch up. All these pitches have electricity, and a water tap is shared between two pitches. One hard-standing pitch situated near the toilet block is a dedicated disabled pitch.
The grass pitches are there for the smaller vehicles - roof tents, campervans, small motor homes and very small tents and are located overlooking the nature park and pond. A number of these pitches have electricity. Water taps are shared amongst the grass pitches. For non electric tent pitches you will be shown to a suitable spot.
One of our recent additions to the site is a dedicated ‘Nearly wild camping’ area. Situated slightly away from the other campers, sheltered behind a large hill offering a more relaxed feel for 4x4 vehicles and the likes while still being able to access toilet facilities if required.
Existing Electric grass tent bookings will be on a 10 m x 4 m pitch. It is the clients responsibility to ensure their tent, guy lines and awning fit in this space.
The campsite features 2 Glamping Pods. Sitting outside the pods, facing southwards you look out over the farmland and have direct views to the ancient monument on the site. Each insulated and heated pod sleeps up to two people. There is a small kitchen unit with a sink, a kettle and a toaster. Toilet and shower facilities are close by. All Pods are strictly pet free. No exceptions.
Accessible through a gate from the campground, you and your four-legged friend can take a stroll through the nature park. Walk around the pond and sit and enjoy the views. Dogs are welcome to walk off the lead in this nature park, but we ask the owners to look after their four-legged friends at all times. It goes without saying to please clean up after your dog.
In the pond there are gold fish and many frogs. Fishing this pond is not allowed however feel free to enjoy a refreshing swim.
Our Glamping Pods face southwards looking over the farmland and sleep up to two adults (and one infant but you will need to bring your own travel cot)
There is a small kitchen unit with a sink, kettle and toaster. Cowder and Nairn Pod comes with a bed and mattress, full bedding available to rent at £10 per stay. (Contact the campsite in regards to bedding rental) Toilet and shower facilities are close by.

We booked a weekend and enjoyed it so very much we booked for the season, a nice size of campsite with lovely country views and highland cows , goats makes your stay very relaxing , it is not far into Nairn for lovely walks or cycling along the river and to the marina and along the beach also two golf courses . The high street offers a nice variety of shops and a choice of restaurants and cafes. From the campsite you can go through to Inverness approximately 12 miles where you have a great choice of travelling in various directions. The staff are very friendly and helpful at Barrow Campsite also the facilities are spotless and a laundrette, disabled toilets . There is a bothy on site where you can meet for a social gathering which makes it very homely . We can not wait for the new season to start as looking so much forward to seeing the staff and being there 🤣👍🏻
We have spent one season at Barrow campsite and intend to return next season. The reasons being it is a lovely clean campsite with good accessibility. The Campsite is situated in scenic surroundings and wildlife and lovely flat walks to enjoy. Staff are friendly and accommodating and the campsite is largely quiet which is something we appreciate.
Staff friendly and helpful. Facilities clean and roomy. Great location and peaceful site. Close to golf, beaches and lovely scenery. Site itself is open, litter free and convenient for touring or just enjoying the countryside
I had a long term touring pitch so could lock up and leave anytime, the Bonny Highland cows, together with pigmy goats and lamas who were very friendly. This is no usual holiday park with restrictions it's a working farm with Tractors trailers ploughing fields and getting the Barley in .As the park is based in a few acres of beautiful flat grassland ideal for football rounders and dog walks or as mine did lives to jump up in the long grass. The site is run by Garry who lives on site and can be seen serving in the shop.,which serves proper meat sausages and Bacon with farm eggs for breakfast. The facilities are immaculate with disabilities catered for the sunrise and sunsets are stunning and abundance of wildlife a proper chill out holiday with back to basics and no Hamster Wheel in site ,much love and thank you for making me feel part of the long term touring family kind regards Judith Shand and Penny see you next year.
Our first visit and we will be back. Spacious, well laid out pitches in a beautiful setting. Facilities are spotless. Excellent dog walking area.

Very helpful friendly site in beautiful wild surroundings. Easily accessible. Near to Nairn & some lovely scenery. We needed help while there & the staff couldn't have been better. Everything clean & tidy. Toilets immaculate. Good value for the price.
Stayed at Barrow campsite for a couple of nights, site was immaculate. Great location with dog exercise area and walks accessible from site. Not far from Nairn itself, I walked there and back with the dog. Will definitely be back
