Barleylands in Billericay is owned by the Philpot family who started farming in 1937 on Potton Island, with just 10 acres of arable land. Today, after three generations of Philpot farmers, careful strategic planning, land management and business diversification, the Philpot family now farms a total of 12,800 acres in Essex and Suffolk and owns one of South East England’s most popular educational farming and craft centre attractions – Barleylands.

Our campsite offers a number of pitches located along the River Crouch and further down to our main field. We have grass and hard standing pitches that accept electric hook-up. Toilet and shower blocks are located at various points around the area, as well as electric and water points (additional facilities for disabled guests within 250m).

The Barleylands Farm Shop is just a short drive away from the campsite and is open 7 days per week. Bulk bookings are welcome for group meets, as well as one off pitches. Dogs are very welcome on site but must be kept on a lead and cleaned up after. There is plenty of open space surrounding the campsite for dog walking.

There is plenty of open space surrounding the campsite for walking around the scenic countryside and the number 300 bus stop is only 50m from the campsite if you wanted to travel further afield. Also within easy walking distance (less than 300m), you will find The Village at Barleylands, which is home to a unique collection of artisan craft studios and boutiques that you are welcome to browse from 10am to 4pm, Tuesday to Sunday.

If you would like to be pampered during your stay, The Village is home to some luxury treatment rooms or enjoy the fun workshops and activities for all ages, including Pottery Painting!

There are two eateries based within The Village where you can stop for a bite to eat; Tiptree Tea Rooms (open 9-4, 7 days a week) and The Magic Mushroom Restaurant (open 12-late Weds to Sat and 12-4 Sun). If you are looking for a fun day out for all the family, you can always visit Barleylands Farm Park, which is right next door to the campsite and open 10am to 4pm every day throughout Winter and 10am to 5pm every day throughout Summer

When camping you can also take advantage of our Stay and Play offer – 2 days worth of Farm Park tickets for the price of 1! Fancy something a bit more up close and personal? We also offer a VIP Experience, perfect for individuals or small groups, and can be tailored to your preferences.

Convenient location, spacious and accessible with decent facilities. Pretty close to All-in-one holiday spot, great for families with children especially.

This is my second stay at Barleylands and it was overall a lovely stopover with minor hiccups.I was there as a stopover from a long trip before heading to Southend on sea the next day. I took up a grass pitch (Zone D 49) with electric hookup to recharge overnight before continuing with the journey. Nice and quiet flat grass pitch. The wooden shower cabin is always occupied but I have compost toilet in van so it was fine. The Unisex shower compartment I used, the tap button was broken but it is doable, still got a satisfying strong hot shower. Someone walked passed my van and switched off the power. The next morning young children from the tent next pitch were weeing in the lawn.Despite all that it was a really pleasant stay, will be back and definitely share with friends

Beautiful site, lacks facilities.

The camping site looks lovely it lacks on better facilities. More toilets and showers. If there was a small shop on site and the drive in cinema was running we would have happly spent a lot more money.

Poor Shower Block

Brady, Martin - 04/06/2025

Site is large and well laid out with spacious pitches. Unfortunately the facilities don’t quite match up. Attended shower block around 8am on Saturday, it was empty as would expect at this time on a Saturday morning. Shower was cold and with very little pressure, more like a trickle feed. When I pointed this out to staff I was told to leave it 30mins and try again!

Nice site, plenty to do or just chill. Be nice to have a tap on the pitch, but there was one you could park at and fill up before you go on your alloted pitch.

Loads of space

Sharpe, Kayleigh - 04/06/2025

Such a lovely place just wish there were more than 2 toilets for our pitch. Also think some kind of gate system should be in place as anyone can walk into the campsite if visiting the farm

Perfect family location

Hoddell, Catherine - 03/06/2025

The site is located in a lovely setting where children can safely play. Dog are allowed but must stay on a leash which allows the site to remain free from dog waste. There are ample bins provided for that. The toilet/shower areas were often busy and there was a wait to use them. Depending on the time of day and usage there was a small build up of rubbish on the toilet floors due to some guests not clearing up. When the toilets were cleaned, daily, this was done to a high standard. The facilities on the site was amazing. It would of been nice to have a small shop as to walk to the farm shop was a little scary! The horses and farm rides kept us entertained 😆 Overall it was a good stay.

Great for kids

Whitlam, Jo - 01/06/2025

We took our large 8x5m tent to give our 2 under 5 nieces thier first camping experience. Everyone loved the location. A 3 night stay wasn't enough to do barleylands and engage with the shopping village too! We will probably be back next year!Pitches were large - so large we didn't quite know where to pitch so some assistance on arrival would have been helpful. I'd it to the centre, left or right of thr pitch sign? It took us about 15 minutes to work this out for ourselves as we were in the middle of an empty row so didn't want to intrude on any newcomers pitches.Toilets and showers were clean with no queues. However the camp was half full over may half term, so peak season in summer may be interesting Pitches were level and well drainedOverall we had a great time and used our time to explore barleylands. Thanks for the discounted 2 day entry!
