Barleylands in Billericay is owned by the Philpot family who started farming in 1937 on Potton Island, with just 10 acres of arable land. Today, after three generations of Philpot farmers, careful strategic planning, land management and business diversification, the Philpot family now farms a total of 12,800 acres in Essex and Suffolk and owns one of South East England’s most popular educational farming and craft centre attractions – Barleylands.
Our campsite offers a number of pitches located along the River Crouch and further down to our main field. We have grass and hard standing pitches that accept electric hook-up. Toilet and shower blocks are located at various points around the area, as well as electric and water points (additional facilities for disabled guests within 250m).
The Barleylands Farm Shop is just a short drive away from the campsite and is open 7 days per week. Bulk bookings are welcome for group meets, as well as one off pitches. Dogs are very welcome on site but must be kept on a lead and cleaned up after. There is plenty of open space surrounding the campsite for dog walking.
There is plenty of open space surrounding the campsite for walking around the scenic countryside and the number 300 bus stop is only 50m from the campsite if you wanted to travel further afield. Also within easy walking distance (less than 300m), you will find The Village at Barleylands, which is home to a unique collection of artisan craft studios and boutiques that you are welcome to browse from 10am to 4pm, Tuesday to Sunday.
If you would like to be pampered during your stay, The Village is home to some luxury treatment rooms or enjoy the fun workshops and activities for all ages, including Pottery Painting!
There are two eateries based within The Village where you can stop for a bite to eat; Tiptree Tea Rooms (open 9-4, 7 days a week) and The Magic Mushroom Restaurant (open 12-late Weds to Sat and 12-4 Sun). If you are looking for a fun day out for all the family, you can always visit Barleylands Farm Park, which is right next door to the campsite and open 10am to 4pm every day throughout Winter and 10am to 5pm every day throughout Summer
When camping you can also take advantage of our Stay and Play offer – 2 days worth of Farm Park tickets for the price of 1! Fancy something a bit more up close and personal? We also offer a VIP Experience, perfect for individuals or small groups, and can be tailored to your preferences.

A lovely campsite for a base to explore the farm and surrounding area.Lovely clean facilities and clear designated pitches. The only downside is there is no play area for children to play in outside of the farm opening hours and no local shop unless you drive.
The campsite was exactly what you would expect. Barleylands Farm was absolutely great for the kids. So much to do and see. We spent two full days there. Will definitely go back.
Been to this campsite many times and had such great fun with the family. Unfortunately this time was different . It seemed like we was treading on egg shells , it seemed like if your not in bed by 10pm your getting complained about . Big brother cameras watching you. Be warned!
The facilities at this campsite were awful. We had 3 ladies toilets and 2 sinks for the entire campsite, needless to say there was often no toilet roll or hand soap and a queue to spend a penny. The showers worked well but were filthy due to the volume of people using the 5-6 showers they had. There was a cleaner but unfortunately they would need to attend every couple of hours to keep the facilities in good shape. They only seemed to clean once a day. There was only one area to take your rubbish and the bins were over flowing and stank.Barlylands farm park, however, was excellent and I would 100% recommend to other families. We attended 2 days in a row and never got board. Colonel Custard and Skittleman were brilliant. We loved their magic show, dance party, balloon and bubbles workshop. The foam party was awesome. The free pedal tractors for little ones to roam the park is an excellent idea. We enjoyed feeding the animals, birds of prey show & speedway.
This is a lovely site with a new shower block & toilets that were always clean. The field is large enough for the kids to play ball games & make friends. This is the 2nd year weve been. Its only half an hour from home but still feels like we're on holiday with the fields of horse around the site & barleylands farm on the doorstep. When packing up we had an issue getting pegs out of the ground. The staff were very understanding & sent a staff member out to help us.Can't wait to come again next year.
Everyone we dealt with was helpful and polite, the facilities were lovely and clean and great showers. Plenty of space for the kids to run around and they loved going to see the horses at the end of the field. There is plenty to do nearby and we had a great couple of days at Barleylands seeing the animals and going to see Mr Skittle and Colonel Custard! The kids made friends on the site and had such a good time that they asked to stay another night! They are already talking about going back next year!
Had a great 2 night stay to access Basildon and Brentwood. Easy online booking and ability to choose pitch. Facilities were good - coded Bathrooms and showers, although not particularly clean later in the day. Some really good on-site activities (paid). Had great fun at the Adventure Golf. No real food options on/near site that I was aware of but towns/shops located within a few miles.
Upon arriving at Barleylands for the first time, signage to pitches was not clear. After a member of staff barked "you are in the wrong place"..We were given instruction from another camper...Our pitch had plenty of space and easy to pitch our tent...We found the facilities were exceptionally clean, both toilet blocks and shower blocks, amenities were plentyful and provided every amusement for the children and adults alike...The Barleylands office is a bit hidden again with poor signage this could be improved...Plenty of public transport stops outside and a tesco express 10 mins away...
We were looking for somewhere to stay for a single night on a road trip in our campervan and barley's offered one-night stay. The reviews were brilliant with regards to cleanliness of facilities and the site did not disappoint. It was easy to find and navigate. We were sent through comprehensive information with maps and codes that might be required. The shower and toilet facilities were close by and very clean. We only ran into one member of staff on our journey and not because we needed them just because they were out and about and they were very friendly and helpful. Have already recommended to a few people would definitely come back. Great price and convenient. Also. With a lovely little shopping village nearby.
