Barleylands in Billericay is owned by the Philpot family who started farming in 1937 on Potton Island, with just 10 acres of arable land. Today, after three generations of Philpot farmers, careful strategic planning, land management and business diversification, the Philpot family now farms a total of 12,800 acres in Essex and Suffolk and owns one of South East England’s most popular educational farming and craft centre attractions – Barleylands.
Our campsite offers a number of pitches located along the River Crouch and further down to our main field. We have grass and hard standing pitches that accept electric hook-up. Toilet and shower blocks are located at various points around the area, as well as electric and water points (additional facilities for disabled guests within 250m).
The Barleylands Farm Shop is just a short drive away from the campsite and is open 7 days per week. Bulk bookings are welcome for group meets, as well as one off pitches. Dogs are very welcome on site but must be kept on a lead and cleaned up after. There is plenty of open space surrounding the campsite for dog walking.
There is plenty of open space surrounding the campsite for walking around the scenic countryside and the number 300 bus stop is only 50m from the campsite if you wanted to travel further afield. Also within easy walking distance (less than 300m), you will find The Village at Barleylands, which is home to a unique collection of artisan craft studios and boutiques that you are welcome to browse from 10am to 4pm, Tuesday to Sunday.
If you would like to be pampered during your stay, The Village is home to some luxury treatment rooms or enjoy the fun workshops and activities for all ages, including Pottery Painting!
There are two eateries based within The Village where you can stop for a bite to eat; Tiptree Tea Rooms (open 9-4, 7 days a week) and The Magic Mushroom Restaurant (open 12-late Weds to Sat and 12-4 Sun). If you are looking for a fun day out for all the family, you can always visit Barleylands Farm Park, which is right next door to the campsite and open 10am to 4pm every day throughout Winter and 10am to 5pm every day throughout Summer
When camping you can also take advantage of our Stay and Play offer – 2 days worth of Farm Park tickets for the price of 1! Fancy something a bit more up close and personal? We also offer a VIP Experience, perfect for individuals or small groups, and can be tailored to your preferences.

Easy to access pitches, very clean toilet and shower blocks. Only small fault not enongh lighting at night
Clean ammenities, easy check in and done on line. Next time in UK I’ll stay again.
A bit disappointed that there’s a lot of people staying long term now and they all over the site not in one area. Even a tent !Still need a bin the other side of site too .Nice site overall will go again .
Overall experience camping here at Barleylands was good, especially having so much to do right on your doorstep what with the farm park, crazy golf and all the other events that generally happen. However, I strongly suggest you bring your own shower as most of those on site run for seconds when the button is pressed, therefore not giving you enough time wash yourself between having to press the button again... not a clever set up!
We have started using Barleylands as a base when travelling to Europe. We also visit our son and family whilst here as it's very conveniently situated. We have a 7.5 m motorhome and not ULEZ compliant due to its age so using Barleylands as our base is ideal The lovely Lynne is always a pleasure to talk to when booking and is incredibly helpful. We will definitely be coming back again.
For a campsite close to a city it was surprisingly well equipped nice level sites .. clean bathrooms . I only gave 4 star for reason there was no laundry on site, having been traveling around the country for 3 weeks this was the only site that never offered a laundry . Would stay again .
Perfect .. clean..staff in tea rooms very friendly and polite ..will definitely return ..
A very pleasant stay with clean facilities private pitch with plenty of room, the amenities close by are accessible .
Confusion on arrival as nowhere to check in. Although site may be dog friendly, Barleylands attraction isn’t very dog friendly. Most of the shops don’t allow them or the farm. We paid tfir a family ticket to play adventure golf and were then told can’t take a dog in. I’ve never been to a crazy golf and not been able to do this. Two very disappointed grandsons! This meant, as a family, we had to do things separately as don’t like leaving our dog in the motorhome on his own for long. Also, there is no walking access from site to farm shop. You have to drive there. This was not possible as had awning on our motorhome.
Simple book in. Payment and info online. Great facilities and surrounded by plenty of fun things to see and do.
