Barleylands in Billericay is owned by the Philpot family who started farming in 1937 on Potton Island, with just 10 acres of arable land. Today, after three generations of Philpot farmers, careful strategic planning, land management and business diversification, the Philpot family now farms a total of 12,800 acres in Essex and Suffolk and owns one of South East England’s most popular educational farming and craft centre attractions – Barleylands.
Our campsite offers a number of pitches located along the River Crouch and further down to our main field. We have grass and hard standing pitches that accept electric hook-up. Toilet and shower blocks are located at various points around the area, as well as electric and water points (additional facilities for disabled guests within 250m).
The Barleylands Farm Shop is just a short drive away from the campsite and is open 7 days per week. Bulk bookings are welcome for group meets, as well as one off pitches. Dogs are very welcome on site but must be kept on a lead and cleaned up after. There is plenty of open space surrounding the campsite for dog walking.
There is plenty of open space surrounding the campsite for walking around the scenic countryside and the number 300 bus stop is only 50m from the campsite if you wanted to travel further afield. Also within easy walking distance (less than 300m), you will find The Village at Barleylands, which is home to a unique collection of artisan craft studios and boutiques that you are welcome to browse from 10am to 4pm, Tuesday to Sunday.
If you would like to be pampered during your stay, The Village is home to some luxury treatment rooms or enjoy the fun workshops and activities for all ages, including Pottery Painting!
There are two eateries based within The Village where you can stop for a bite to eat; Tiptree Tea Rooms (open 9-4, 7 days a week) and The Magic Mushroom Restaurant (open 12-late Weds to Sat and 12-4 Sun). If you are looking for a fun day out for all the family, you can always visit Barleylands Farm Park, which is right next door to the campsite and open 10am to 4pm every day throughout Winter and 10am to 5pm every day throughout Summer
When camping you can also take advantage of our Stay and Play offer – 2 days worth of Farm Park tickets for the price of 1! Fancy something a bit more up close and personal? We also offer a VIP Experience, perfect for individuals or small groups, and can be tailored to your preferences.

Amazing peaceful area to enjoy a lovely weekend.
Although we live local to Barleylands it’s always a nice place to relax and chill
Very easy to book very well laid out very quite very clean very perfect in every way and the lady on the phone is very pleasant to deal with.
We have stayed before and we’re always impressed with the layout of the site and the level of cleanliness that is maintained by the excellent staff. They work hard to keep the facilities clean and safe which makes a huge difference to the overall experience for all visitors. We enjoyed the Easter craft and food market and we always enjoy the quality of the food in the restaurant. We have a small dog with us so are unable to visit the farm which is a shame but it was a very pleasant weekend experience, thank you.
Hi David, Thank you for your great review and comments and great to hear that you have chosen to return to the campsite. We hope to see you back at Barleylands again soon.
We booked Barleylands as it is in the right location to visit our son. It was very noisy with children, but that what the site is catering for is families with children, we are in our 60’s and went in school holidays so what can you expect. The only thing that we really didn’t like was the shower and toilet facilities a bit of a portaloo set up. So we used our caravan facilities. We will be back as the location is great for us.
Hello Claire,Thank you very much for choosing to stay with us recently, and for taking the time to provide us with a review / feedback. We are very pleased to hear that you will be back again with us as the location is so convenient for you. As you have said below, it was the Easter Holidays when you stayed with us, and we do promote ourselves as being family friendly. The site is typically fairly quiet, with no on campsite entertainment. However during School Holiday times we are slightly noisier than usual. Thank you very much and we look forward to welcoming you again soon.
I booked for pitch 60, but there was a noisy family playing loud musicI looked around and decided to move to another pitch on the big field, however there was a large group again playing loud music. There is no proper reception and it took a while to find the office next to the football golf for the pitch changeThe new toilet block is very nice, but no hooks for clothing in showers, and the temperature control knob was broken
Thank you for your review and feedback. The new shower block did initally have clothes hooks but we will look into getting these replaced and I have passed the shower issue on to maintance to fix, thank you for letting us know. We are generally a quiet campsite but over the Easter holidays it has been very busy and probably noisier than usual. We hope to see you back at Barleylands again soon.
Not our visit to Barleylands. Once again we had a great time there. There's plenty of room for a modern large tent and space to park next to it. This year the remaining shower and washing up blocks have been replaced or refurbished. They were clean and warm at all times and everything was free and functional.I also love visiting the farm and leisure complex. Plenty to see and do there.I'm already planning our next visit.
Thank you for choosing to stay at Barleylands again and thank you for your great review and feedback. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.
We had a lovely time away at barleylands, the toilets were spotless and the campsite is very clean, we will definitely be back 😊
Thank you for choosing to stay at Barleylands and thank you for your great review. Glad to hear you enjoyed a nice peaceful stay. We hope to see you back at Barleylands again soon.
the site was well marked good facilities although could find anywhere to dump grey water. would have like some human contact on check in.good area for dog walking although would have been nice to be supplied with information.
Thank you for choosing to stay at Barleylands and thank you for your review and feedback. We haven't got a separate area to dispose of grey waste but we do have two elsan points on site and we don't meet our guests on arrival but all the information is sent to our guests upon booking and we are available in the office during business hours if you need us or require any addtional information. We hope you enjoyed your stay on the campsite.
Only 1 night stay in our motorhome, but thoroughly enjoyed it, its lovely to arrive and not have to check in, just drive straight onto your pitch. The amenities were good. Clean shower and toilet block. Great for kids so much to do, didn't have any with us, but considering taking the grand children there. Lovely craft Village, and a farmyard, didn't go in the farmyard, but looked great fun for children, and to top it off we had a boot sale to wander around Sunday morning. Will definitely return.
Thank you for choosing to stay at Barleylands and thank you for your great review and feedback. We hope to see you back at Barleylands again soon.
