Barleylands in Billericay is owned by the Philpot family who started farming in 1937 on Potton Island, with just 10 acres of arable land. Today, after three generations of Philpot farmers, careful strategic planning, land management and business diversification, the Philpot family now farms a total of 12,800 acres in Essex and Suffolk and owns one of South East England’s most popular educational farming and craft centre attractions – Barleylands.
Our campsite offers a number of pitches located along the River Crouch and further down to our main field. We have grass and hard standing pitches that accept electric hook-up. Toilet and shower blocks are located at various points around the area, as well as electric and water points (additional facilities for disabled guests within 250m).
The Barleylands Farm Shop is just a short drive away from the campsite and is open 7 days per week. Bulk bookings are welcome for group meets, as well as one off pitches. Dogs are very welcome on site but must be kept on a lead and cleaned up after. There is plenty of open space surrounding the campsite for dog walking.
There is plenty of open space surrounding the campsite for walking around the scenic countryside and the number 300 bus stop is only 50m from the campsite if you wanted to travel further afield. Also within easy walking distance (less than 300m), you will find The Village at Barleylands, which is home to a unique collection of artisan craft studios and boutiques that you are welcome to browse from 10am to 4pm, Tuesday to Sunday.
If you would like to be pampered during your stay, The Village is home to some luxury treatment rooms or enjoy the fun workshops and activities for all ages, including Pottery Painting!
There are two eateries based within The Village where you can stop for a bite to eat; Tiptree Tea Rooms (open 9-4, 7 days a week) and The Magic Mushroom Restaurant (open 12-late Weds to Sat and 12-4 Sun). If you are looking for a fun day out for all the family, you can always visit Barleylands Farm Park, which is right next door to the campsite and open 10am to 4pm every day throughout Winter and 10am to 5pm every day throughout Summer
When camping you can also take advantage of our Stay and Play offer – 2 days worth of Farm Park tickets for the price of 1! Fancy something a bit more up close and personal? We also offer a VIP Experience, perfect for individuals or small groups, and can be tailored to your preferences.

Only had our converted van since June, and have enjoyed plenty of getaways over the summer. Having had to cancel a trip to Venice, we were at a loose end so we booked a couple of days here as it's fairly local and we weren't sure how warm we were going to be. Enjoyed the break, had a good hardstanding pitch, after having to switch because our hookup lead at 10m was too short on the original pitch. Showers and toilets were clean and warm, washing up station had plenty of hot water. Dog had plenty of walking, and we had plenty of wine after a smooch round the craft village. Would like to come back in the spring
Would have given a higher star rating but on two very cold nights we had constant problems with the electric supply, wasn't just us , there were a few others staying who also had problems. In fairness, they had an electrician out very quickly and were trying to solve the problem as we were leaving. Toilet blocks were spotless and staff were very helpful. The magic mushroom restaurant on site was excellent and what a delightful little 'village' they have there with some cracking little shops. Looking forward to returning when it's a little warmer and doing the farm activities with the grandchildren.
stayed here last week.lovely quiet site nice little christmas market.however the power kept going off and on all my stay and being a cold day needed the heating on in the campervan .power must have gone off/on at least 30 times over 2 day stay
This is a huge site. We had arrived at night and hadn't realised that there was no reception. Pitchup hadn't forwarded our booking to Barleylands so we hadn't recieved the welcome pack with codes, site map etc. Eventually found our place on a large gravel hardstanding and only in the morning when we needed the code to the showers did we realise we were missing a welcome email. Anyway a quick phone call and all was sorted. Nice enough hot showers and toilets. I tink we will have to come again with the family to try out the miniature golf course and properly wander round Barleylands, it looks fascinating and obviously a major tourist attraction in the area. Its a major equestrian centre too. Stables and paddocks everywhere.
The electricity cut out without warning on a very cold night. There was no warning this might happen. The price charged should exclude free WiFi. I was informed that the power cutting out is not unusual. When this is reported to Barleylands there should be an automatic 10% refund. Just to add I would not normally send a review. I was asked by Barleylands.
Nice camp site, was very quiet when I stayed. I always book plot 28 as the water tap is on that plot along with the electrics and it’s hard standing.I could come & go when I pleased I would recommend this site
Just stayed a couple of nights but didn't use the facilities but the overall impression was easy to use and clean.
This site is ideally located for Billericay, with its excellent High Street with shops, cafes and restaurants as well as a train station for trains to London. The site is clean and well maintained, with good showers and toilets. Barleylands Craft Centre is a short walk from the site with its Tiptree Tea Room cafe, craft shops and animal farm.
Well maintained dog and family friendly site easy access for larger units mine is 10m RV. Beautiful craft Village with access to craft introductions. The toilets and showers were well maintained and functional but no bin bag's in the bin at the washing up station. I only saw 1 Elsan point considering the size of the site I can imagine that could be a problem. No obvious dog walking however the site is large enough to walk around. All in all it's a fabulous, clean, secure and well maintained campsite, very friendly staff always there to help we will definitely go back and I'd highly recommend
We stayed at BarleylandAnd we would stay here again the only thing was the bathroom is locked And we need the toilet quite desperately in the night and luckily someone had the password I don’t see why bathrooms need to be locked
