Barleylands in Billericay is owned by the Philpot family who started farming in 1937 on Potton Island, with just 10 acres of arable land. Today, after three generations of Philpot farmers, careful strategic planning, land management and business diversification, the Philpot family now farms a total of 12,800 acres in Essex and Suffolk and owns one of South East England’s most popular educational farming and craft centre attractions – Barleylands.
Our campsite offers a number of pitches located along the River Crouch and further down to our main field. We have grass and hard standing pitches that accept electric hook-up. Toilet and shower blocks are located at various points around the area, as well as electric and water points (additional facilities for disabled guests within 250m).
The Barleylands Farm Shop is just a short drive away from the campsite and is open 7 days per week. Bulk bookings are welcome for group meets, as well as one off pitches. Dogs are very welcome on site but must be kept on a lead and cleaned up after. There is plenty of open space surrounding the campsite for dog walking.
There is plenty of open space surrounding the campsite for walking around the scenic countryside and the number 300 bus stop is only 50m from the campsite if you wanted to travel further afield. Also within easy walking distance (less than 300m), you will find The Village at Barleylands, which is home to a unique collection of artisan craft studios and boutiques that you are welcome to browse from 10am to 4pm, Tuesday to Sunday.
If you would like to be pampered during your stay, The Village is home to some luxury treatment rooms or enjoy the fun workshops and activities for all ages, including Pottery Painting!
There are two eateries based within The Village where you can stop for a bite to eat; Tiptree Tea Rooms (open 9-4, 7 days a week) and The Magic Mushroom Restaurant (open 12-late Weds to Sat and 12-4 Sun). If you are looking for a fun day out for all the family, you can always visit Barleylands Farm Park, which is right next door to the campsite and open 10am to 4pm every day throughout Winter and 10am to 5pm every day throughout Summer
When camping you can also take advantage of our Stay and Play offer – 2 days worth of Farm Park tickets for the price of 1! Fancy something a bit more up close and personal? We also offer a VIP Experience, perfect for individuals or small groups, and can be tailored to your preferences.

Plenty of space for large tentCould do with washing up sinks by shower toilet block near equestrian centre No playground like swings and slides on site unless you pay to go in Barley Lands parkBut generally a good site with lots to do
We had a lovely stay, lovely large pitch and clean facilities. Only thing I would say would be a great addition is somewhere to charge phones for people who stay non electricAnd hair dryers in the toilet/shower facilities
Didn't meet any of the staff but spoke to one person on the phone and she was very friendlyThey sent a map with the confirmation but quite difficult to read it on the phoneWe walked in to Billericay but you wouldn't want to do it with children as there were places where there was no pavement - we got the bus back
Very good site well marked out marked out pitch’s clean toilets and would recommend to anyone
Thank you for your great 5 star review. We hope to see you back at Barleylands again soon.
Place was clean Toilets and bathroom always clean and good water supply Good value for money, felt quite safe The little village was interesting and the farm was wonderful Just wish there were more trees for shade and a waterway where we could cool down in this heat Only negative was the guy cutting grass when we had already set up camp and grass was flying into our tent, had to clean when we came back from our walk
Thank you for your great review and feedback. We hope to see you back at Barleylands again soon.
Great local site for us with good clean facilities. Pitches very well signed and very level travelled with our caravan and two young children. Farm park is perfect for all ages. Showers could be improved with better lighting and more toilets for the amount of pitches. Two toilets is not enough was queues at times especially when busy. However always found them clean and tidy. Will visit again as our closest site and we like it here. Liked the fact on our pitch 32 had water supply shared with other pitches but saved walking the barrel far to fill up each time
Thank you for your great review and feedback. We also have a newer facilites block on site with 3 toilets and showers and plan to update the rest of the facilites soon. We hope to see you back at Barleylands again soon.
Good pitches, several different areas to choose from. All well kept and tidy. Nice location in open countryside, very easy access and a good bus service past the gate too. Everything you need. Farm park adjacent is extra interest. Also very good to be able to select a preferred pitch during the booking process. Recommended.
Thank you for your great review and feedback. We hope to see you back at Barleylands again soon.
We enjoyed a stay on the hottest weekend of the year so far. Lots of family groups enjoying the site. The facilities were good and noise was minimal.
Thank you for your great review. We hope to see you back at Barleylands again soon.
Visiting family in my old town I decided to camp overnight in my motor home at Barleylands. It is very convenient as near major roads and town, but still in a rural location. The site is very big with shops and a restaurant. There are plenty of toilets and showers which were all very clean.I would definitely return to the site.
Thank you for your 5 star review. We hope to see you back at Barleylands again soon.
