Barleylands in Billericay is owned by the Philpot family who started farming in 1937 on Potton Island, with just 10 acres of arable land. Today, after three generations of Philpot farmers, careful strategic planning, land management and business diversification, the Philpot family now farms a total of 12,800 acres in Essex and Suffolk and owns one of South East England’s most popular educational farming and craft centre attractions – Barleylands.
Our campsite offers a number of pitches located along the River Crouch and further down to our main field. We have grass and hard standing pitches that accept electric hook-up. Toilet and shower blocks are located at various points around the area, as well as electric and water points (additional facilities for disabled guests within 250m).
The Barleylands Farm Shop is just a short drive away from the campsite and is open 7 days per week. Bulk bookings are welcome for group meets, as well as one off pitches. Dogs are very welcome on site but must be kept on a lead and cleaned up after. There is plenty of open space surrounding the campsite for dog walking.
There is plenty of open space surrounding the campsite for walking around the scenic countryside and the number 300 bus stop is only 50m from the campsite if you wanted to travel further afield. Also within easy walking distance (less than 300m), you will find The Village at Barleylands, which is home to a unique collection of artisan craft studios and boutiques that you are welcome to browse from 10am to 4pm, Tuesday to Sunday.
If you would like to be pampered during your stay, The Village is home to some luxury treatment rooms or enjoy the fun workshops and activities for all ages, including Pottery Painting!
There are two eateries based within The Village where you can stop for a bite to eat; Tiptree Tea Rooms (open 9-4, 7 days a week) and The Magic Mushroom Restaurant (open 12-late Weds to Sat and 12-4 Sun). If you are looking for a fun day out for all the family, you can always visit Barleylands Farm Park, which is right next door to the campsite and open 10am to 4pm every day throughout Winter and 10am to 5pm every day throughout Summer
When camping you can also take advantage of our Stay and Play offer – 2 days worth of Farm Park tickets for the price of 1! Fancy something a bit more up close and personal? We also offer a VIP Experience, perfect for individuals or small groups, and can be tailored to your preferences.

The booking process was easy and efficient, and it was good to be able to select my pitch in advance. The pitch was very quiet and near facilities (in zone B), and just what I needed for an overnight stay in order to attend a funeral nearby. Great price, convenient location and good to be able to book just for the one night. The facilities were nice and clean - only negative was the lack of bin / binbag by the washing-up area (there was only the stand and lid).
We often do weekends here and bank holidays, it’s a lovely campsite and still being developed too! I can’t think of many bad points, it would be nice to see some kind of shop on the campsite to buy souvenirs and general things like milk, bread and other bits. And a small cafe actually on the campsite would be nice. There is one in the barlylands village but one on the campsite itself would be great! All in all, fantastic!
The staff were very helpful. The site is clean but would benefit from having services pitches. The shower block isn’t the most inviting. We came to be closer to a job and the staff were so very helpful I would use the site again.
WiFi hasn’t worked all week. The shower in wooden block isn’t disabled friendly no rails no bench.Need bins both side of park and should have recycled bins too .Lovely time always enjoy it there .
Einfacher Stellplatz mit Strom in ruhiger Lage. Die Örtlichkeiten sind einfach, aber sauber. Wir haben hier eine ruhige Nacht im Wohnmobil verbracht. Gerne wieder!
Easy to find with good access. No reception or security on the gate. Facilities were clean and cleaned regularly although the washing -up area had no hot water for the three days I stayed there. The pitches were of a good size and level, but it seemed like the lower number pitches were where people lived all the time with work vans and dumped motorbikes etc. People coming and going never stuck to the speed limit and other campers were quite noisy after 2200 hrs. Quite good value for the money charged to stay but not for me again.
Lovely clean site, showers/ toilets kept clean at all times.
We did not stay for more than 2 hours. Obviously, no one noticed we had left! or checked we had arrived. The site was just like a big car park ,featureless and unwelcoming. No signs as to where we could walk our dog just said in the information that there were fields around. Facilities were not the best. We decided to drive home rather than stay.We are out and about in our motorhome a lot and won't be returning
We often stay at Barleylands when visiting family in Essex. The site is clean and tidy also well situated. The price is reasonable and the facilities are kept well. Thank you.
Nice and quiet bit dusty on the roads as the vehicles passing by but average its very good definitely going back 😎
