Barleylands in Billericay is owned by the Philpot family who started farming in 1937 on Potton Island, with just 10 acres of arable land. Today, after three generations of Philpot farmers, careful strategic planning, land management and business diversification, the Philpot family now farms a total of 12,800 acres in Essex and Suffolk and owns one of South East England’s most popular educational farming and craft centre attractions – Barleylands.
Our campsite offers a number of pitches located along the River Crouch and further down to our main field. We have grass and hard standing pitches that accept electric hook-up. Toilet and shower blocks are located at various points around the area, as well as electric and water points (additional facilities for disabled guests within 250m).
The Barleylands Farm Shop is just a short drive away from the campsite and is open 7 days per week. Bulk bookings are welcome for group meets, as well as one off pitches. Dogs are very welcome on site but must be kept on a lead and cleaned up after. There is plenty of open space surrounding the campsite for dog walking.
There is plenty of open space surrounding the campsite for walking around the scenic countryside and the number 300 bus stop is only 50m from the campsite if you wanted to travel further afield. Also within easy walking distance (less than 300m), you will find The Village at Barleylands, which is home to a unique collection of artisan craft studios and boutiques that you are welcome to browse from 10am to 4pm, Tuesday to Sunday.
If you would like to be pampered during your stay, The Village is home to some luxury treatment rooms or enjoy the fun workshops and activities for all ages, including Pottery Painting!
There are two eateries based within The Village where you can stop for a bite to eat; Tiptree Tea Rooms (open 9-4, 7 days a week) and The Magic Mushroom Restaurant (open 12-late Weds to Sat and 12-4 Sun). If you are looking for a fun day out for all the family, you can always visit Barleylands Farm Park, which is right next door to the campsite and open 10am to 4pm every day throughout Winter and 10am to 5pm every day throughout Summer
When camping you can also take advantage of our Stay and Play offer – 2 days worth of Farm Park tickets for the price of 1! Fancy something a bit more up close and personal? We also offer a VIP Experience, perfect for individuals or small groups, and can be tailored to your preferences.

We have stayed numerous times now as we now live out of Essex. All the family live in different parts of Essex and it's a lovely base for visiting our children and grandchildren. We have never had any issues with Barleylands, the toilets and showers have always been lovely and clean and the staff around the site have always been really friendly and amicable and very helpful.
Hi Angela thank you for your 5 star review and comments and glad you enjoy your stays with us. We hope to see you back at Barleylands again soon.
Excellent toilets and showers nice and clean very reasonable price to stay here
Always had a great stay everything you want cafe in village 200 yards . Lots of room on pitches. Toilet and shower always clean will definitely return as I always do.
Very well laid out, clean facilities, and friendly staff. Will definitely be coming back. And one of the few affordable sites I have ever visited.
Can't fault the site and facilities but because of cold weather there was no water available to cook breakfast and have a wash..Apart from the frozen pipes in the morning great site..Keith and Jane.. 👍
Beautiful laid out good size pitches, all facilities close by, lots to do in the farm but we didn’t have time to look around. Very good price for the site.
Clean! All facilities available, easy to access and park up. Farmyard for the children
I have stayed at Barleylands Campsite Once Before in the Summer when it was Much Busier and it was a nice experience then!I stayed This Christmas (2024) while down visiting family nearby and the site was nice and quiet as you’d expect.Facilities were kept clean too which was great.I noticed the far right shower at the wooden toilet block seemed to stick on, unless it’s meant to run on if you press the button multiple times, I waited about for it to shut off so nothing majorWill definitely be back!Thankyou!
It's great for me I work in the New forest and I come down to see my kids and grandson every so often. It has everything I need for the stay . My son's even came down to see me and we played golf which was fantastic.
Great location to visit friends
