Barleylands in Billericay is owned by the Philpot family who started farming in 1937 on Potton Island, with just 10 acres of arable land. Today, after three generations of Philpot farmers, careful strategic planning, land management and business diversification, the Philpot family now farms a total of 12,800 acres in Essex and Suffolk and owns one of South East England’s most popular educational farming and craft centre attractions – Barleylands.

Our campsite offers a number of pitches located along the River Crouch and further down to our main field. We have grass and hard standing pitches that accept electric hook-up. Toilet and shower blocks are located at various points around the area, as well as electric and water points (additional facilities for disabled guests within 250m).

The Barleylands Farm Shop is just a short drive away from the campsite and is open 7 days per week. Bulk bookings are welcome for group meets, as well as one off pitches. Dogs are very welcome on site but must be kept on a lead and cleaned up after. There is plenty of open space surrounding the campsite for dog walking.

There is plenty of open space surrounding the campsite for walking around the scenic countryside and the number 300 bus stop is only 50m from the campsite if you wanted to travel further afield. Also within easy walking distance (less than 300m), you will find The Village at Barleylands, which is home to a unique collection of artisan craft studios and boutiques that you are welcome to browse from 10am to 4pm, Tuesday to Sunday.

If you would like to be pampered during your stay, The Village is home to some luxury treatment rooms or enjoy the fun workshops and activities for all ages, including Pottery Painting!

There are two eateries based within The Village where you can stop for a bite to eat; Tiptree Tea Rooms (open 9-4, 7 days a week) and The Magic Mushroom Restaurant (open 12-late Weds to Sat and 12-4 Sun). If you are looking for a fun day out for all the family, you can always visit Barleylands Farm Park, which is right next door to the campsite and open 10am to 4pm every day throughout Winter and 10am to 5pm every day throughout Summer

When camping you can also take advantage of our Stay and Play offer – 2 days worth of Farm Park tickets for the price of 1! Fancy something a bit more up close and personal? We also offer a VIP Experience, perfect for individuals or small groups, and can be tailored to your preferences.

Clean and tidy

Very good stay at barleylands. Extra activities like crazy golf/football golf or the farm itself at a extra price will keep the children amused.Only down side was the toilet/shower block lost all water supply on the last day of our stay. We rang and reported it, lucky we were getting ready to leave anyway so didn't affect us too much.

It is a very relaxing site to stay at. Shower facilities are brilliant. Could do with an online laundry room for people on long stays

Ok but inconvenient

I was in a field which included electric hook up but the hook up was actually in the adjacent field behind a thick hedge. To plug in you had to throw your lead over the hedge, walk out of my field, into the next field a distance of around 200 yards, then plug in to a unit right next to a motorhome. The wifi is useless and mostly has no internet connection. Toilet/shower blocks accessed via a code which you have to search for particularly as when I called I was told the right person wasn’t available and asked to call back in 30 minutes (it is on the emailed pdf site map) and bizzarly the codes are all different for each block, each gender and for the washing up room. Given the failure of the wifi it was quite a convoluted process. None of this a deal breaker but just showed an overall disregard for the convenience of the customers…I expected better.

Great stay as always

We enjoy the campsite and tend to come yearly. Lots of room for the kids to run around etc the only downside is the code on the toilets! It’s a pain to try and remember the number, some of the buttons are hard to push and they are really difficult to see at night

Working away

I arrived at Barley lands after 5:30 on a Friday so there was no reception but that didn't matter. Signs were clear so I found my pitch quickly. Very spacious so although the site was busy, it didn't feel so. Toilets and showers use a key pad system which worked really well.
