Barleylands in Billericay is owned by the Philpot family who started farming in 1937 on Potton Island, with just 10 acres of arable land. Today, after three generations of Philpot farmers, careful strategic planning, land management and business diversification, the Philpot family now farms a total of 12,800 acres in Essex and Suffolk and owns one of South East England’s most popular educational farming and craft centre attractions – Barleylands.
Our campsite offers a number of pitches located along the River Crouch and further down to our main field. We have grass and hard standing pitches that accept electric hook-up. Toilet and shower blocks are located at various points around the area, as well as electric and water points (additional facilities for disabled guests within 250m).
The Barleylands Farm Shop is just a short drive away from the campsite and is open 7 days per week. Bulk bookings are welcome for group meets, as well as one off pitches. Dogs are very welcome on site but must be kept on a lead and cleaned up after. There is plenty of open space surrounding the campsite for dog walking.
There is plenty of open space surrounding the campsite for walking around the scenic countryside and the number 300 bus stop is only 50m from the campsite if you wanted to travel further afield. Also within easy walking distance (less than 300m), you will find The Village at Barleylands, which is home to a unique collection of artisan craft studios and boutiques that you are welcome to browse from 10am to 4pm, Tuesday to Sunday.
If you would like to be pampered during your stay, The Village is home to some luxury treatment rooms or enjoy the fun workshops and activities for all ages, including Pottery Painting!
There are two eateries based within The Village where you can stop for a bite to eat; Tiptree Tea Rooms (open 9-4, 7 days a week) and The Magic Mushroom Restaurant (open 12-late Weds to Sat and 12-4 Sun). If you are looking for a fun day out for all the family, you can always visit Barleylands Farm Park, which is right next door to the campsite and open 10am to 4pm every day throughout Winter and 10am to 5pm every day throughout Summer
When camping you can also take advantage of our Stay and Play offer – 2 days worth of Farm Park tickets for the price of 1! Fancy something a bit more up close and personal? We also offer a VIP Experience, perfect for individuals or small groups, and can be tailored to your preferences.

My stay was fantastic, the facilities were great, accessibility was good, the staff were friendly nolegable patient and professional thanks guys see you soon
I enjoyed my stay. I had no issues with getting to my pitch. And when the noisy campers left it was lovely and quiet. There was an issue with shower pressure and when I reported it it was dealt with by a really friendly staff.
The new toilet and shower blocks are excellent. We went to the Magic Mushroom restaurant as we normally do when we stay at Barley lands and it was fabulous as usual. Our usual quiet nights camping here were spoiled by a rowdy group who were camping quite close to us and playing very loud house/garage music at a ridiculous volume until late, absolutely NO consideration for others. Not Barley lands fault but maybe a site warden having a quick inspection might have told them to turn it down ?
This was my second stay at Barleylands having had a thoroughly enjoyable experience last year, and once again, it did not disappoint. Despite ongoing refurbishments during our stay, we were never caught short in terms of WC/Shower facilities, and the facilities were always clean and presentable. The offer of Football Golf and Crazy Golf as on-site activities went down very well with my 12yo, and from what I saw of the farm attraction, I think this would be an excellent activity for younger children. Very impressed, and will definitely be booking again next year.
Great friendly staff.Lynne on the reception was an excellent attentive person offering great attention to our stay. The WIFI on our pitch was great no problem
Large site, lots of space and things to do. Desperately short on facilities, toilets, showers, pot wash, bins, there's a new toilet and shower block but with almost a 100 pitches I don't see how it would cope, it didn't over the last bank holiday weekend and the site was maybe at 50% full.Sadly, the site appears to have no wardens over night, and attracts groups that aren't compatible with families and those that expect a site to keep noise to minimum after 10pm. Groups regular carry on shouting, music, singing, revving vehicle engines and it appears to go unchecked by the camp site, In the 14 nights I was actually at the site 3 or 4 of those nights I experienced this behaviour go on into the early hours. So you could have a great stay, but I think most other sites deal with anti social guest and have adequate facilities.
The campsite was ideal and the 2 day visit to farm was great for my grandchildren. Included in my camping weekend. Showers and toilets were lovely and clean.Pot washing also. It was all nearby.Only thing that bothered me was it looked like their were people living on the site who were drinking and on one night were swearing and arguing late at night past 10 0 clock. Like they were going to have a fight! Regarding surrounding area the noise from boy racers on motorbikes at 1am for about half hour every night was bad! We enjoyed our camping and farm visit which was lovely. Its a shame people dont respect other people's peace.
Setting up was nice and easy. Well signposted. Faculties were kept clean and nice to use
