Barleylands in Billericay is owned by the Philpot family who started farming in 1937 on Potton Island, with just 10 acres of arable land. Today, after three generations of Philpot farmers, careful strategic planning, land management and business diversification, the Philpot family now farms a total of 12,800 acres in Essex and Suffolk and owns one of South East England’s most popular educational farming and craft centre attractions – Barleylands.

Our campsite offers a number of pitches located along the River Crouch and further down to our main field. We have grass and hard standing pitches that accept electric hook-up. Toilet and shower blocks are located at various points around the area, as well as electric and water points (additional facilities for disabled guests within 250m).

The Barleylands Farm Shop is just a short drive away from the campsite and is open 7 days per week. Bulk bookings are welcome for group meets, as well as one off pitches. Dogs are very welcome on site but must be kept on a lead and cleaned up after. There is plenty of open space surrounding the campsite for dog walking.

There is plenty of open space surrounding the campsite for walking around the scenic countryside and the number 300 bus stop is only 50m from the campsite if you wanted to travel further afield. Also within easy walking distance (less than 300m), you will find The Village at Barleylands, which is home to a unique collection of artisan craft studios and boutiques that you are welcome to browse from 10am to 4pm, Tuesday to Sunday.

If you would like to be pampered during your stay, The Village is home to some luxury treatment rooms or enjoy the fun workshops and activities for all ages, including Pottery Painting!

There are two eateries based within The Village where you can stop for a bite to eat; Tiptree Tea Rooms (open 9-4, 7 days a week) and The Magic Mushroom Restaurant (open 12-late Weds to Sat and 12-4 Sun). If you are looking for a fun day out for all the family, you can always visit Barleylands Farm Park, which is right next door to the campsite and open 10am to 4pm every day throughout Winter and 10am to 5pm every day throughout Summer

When camping you can also take advantage of our Stay and Play offer – 2 days worth of Farm Park tickets for the price of 1! Fancy something a bit more up close and personal? We also offer a VIP Experience, perfect for individuals or small groups, and can be tailored to your preferences.

Thank you for your great review and feedback. If you are looking for evening entertainments, it might be worth having a look at Moonbeamers website, they hold cinema evenings here on occassions and you might be able to tie in a stay on the campsite. All cinema listings are on their social pages and website which can be found here (should you want to look for a future visit). https://www.moonbeamers.co.uk/We hope to see you back at Barleylands again soon.

I belong to the scooter club and this is by far the best experience for me so far. And it is on my doorstep

Hudson, James - 20/06/2025

I have lived in Basildon for over 40 years and I did not know the campsite was on my doorstep. I belong to the scooter club and i have been to some dives. From the moment i got on site to the time I left was amazing. So peaceful and quiet and clean. I was taken back from the minute I got there the toilets and showers were very clean. I have stayed away from camping with the scooter club because there are so many let downs with campsites. I only come from vange and to have this on my doorstep is brilliant. I am looking forward to my next camp

Thank you for your review and feedback. I will pass your comment regarding a discount for the football golf to management. We have a Stay and Play offer which entitles campers to access the farm park for 2 days of their stay which currently costs £16.50 per person. We are aso due to release a summer special package for the six weeks holiday.

Convenient location, spacious and accessible with decent facilities. Pretty close to All-in-one holiday spot, great for families with children especially.

This is my second stay at Barleylands and it was overall a lovely stopover with minor hiccups.I was there as a stopover from a long trip before heading to Southend on sea the next day. I took up a grass pitch (Zone D 49) with electric hookup to recharge overnight before continuing with the journey. Nice and quiet flat grass pitch. The wooden shower cabin is always occupied but I have compost toilet in van so it was fine. The Unisex shower compartment I used, the tap button was broken but it is doable, still got a satisfying strong hot shower. Someone walked passed my van and switched off the power. The next morning young children from the tent next pitch were weeing in the lawn.Despite all that it was a really pleasant stay, will be back and definitely share with friends

Beautiful site, lacks facilities.

McManus, David - 05/06/2025

The camping site looks lovely it lacks on better facilities. More toilets and showers. If there was a small shop on site and the drive in cinema was running we would have happly spent a lot more money.

Poor Shower Block

Brady, Martin - 04/06/2025

Site is large and well laid out with spacious pitches. Unfortunately the facilities don’t quite match up. Attended shower block around 8am on Saturday, it was empty as would expect at this time on a Saturday morning. Shower was cold and with very little pressure, more like a trickle feed. When I pointed this out to staff I was told to leave it 30mins and try again!

Thank you for your review and for choosing to stay with us. We are sorry to hear that you experienced a cold shower with low pressure – we have recently had water board issues in our area, however they have now been resolved. Checks are regularly carried out on our facilities to check for damage / repairs needed.

motorhome stay

Edwards, Gary - 04/06/2025

Nice site, plenty to do or just chill. Be nice to have a tap on the pitch, but there was one you could park at and fill up before you go on your alloted pitch.

Loads of space

Sharpe, Kayleigh - 04/06/2025

Such a lovely place just wish there were more than 2 toilets for our pitch. Also think some kind of gate system should be in place as anyone can walk into the campsite if visiting the farm

Perfect family location

Hoddell, Catherine - 03/06/2025

The site is located in a lovely setting where children can safely play. Dog are allowed but must stay on a leash which allows the site to remain free from dog waste. There are ample bins provided for that. The toilet/shower areas were often busy and there was a wait to use them. Depending on the time of day and usage there was a small build up of rubbish on the toilet floors due to some guests not clearing up. When the toilets were cleaned, daily, this was done to a high standard. The facilities on the site was amazing. It would of been nice to have a small shop as to walk to the farm shop was a little scary! The horses and farm rides kept us entertained 😆 Overall it was a good stay.
