Barleylands in Billericay is owned by the Philpot family who started farming in 1937 on Potton Island, with just 10 acres of arable land. Today, after three generations of Philpot farmers, careful strategic planning, land management and business diversification, the Philpot family now farms a total of 12,800 acres in Essex and Suffolk and owns one of South East England’s most popular educational farming and craft centre attractions – Barleylands.
Our campsite offers a number of pitches located along the River Crouch and further down to our main field. We have grass and hard standing pitches that accept electric hook-up. Toilet and shower blocks are located at various points around the area, as well as electric and water points (additional facilities for disabled guests within 250m).
The Barleylands Farm Shop is just a short drive away from the campsite and is open 7 days per week. Bulk bookings are welcome for group meets, as well as one off pitches. Dogs are very welcome on site but must be kept on a lead and cleaned up after. There is plenty of open space surrounding the campsite for dog walking.
There is plenty of open space surrounding the campsite for walking around the scenic countryside and the number 300 bus stop is only 50m from the campsite if you wanted to travel further afield. Also within easy walking distance (less than 300m), you will find The Village at Barleylands, which is home to a unique collection of artisan craft studios and boutiques that you are welcome to browse from 10am to 4pm, Tuesday to Sunday.
If you would like to be pampered during your stay, The Village is home to some luxury treatment rooms or enjoy the fun workshops and activities for all ages, including Pottery Painting!
There are two eateries based within The Village where you can stop for a bite to eat; Tiptree Tea Rooms (open 9-4, 7 days a week) and The Magic Mushroom Restaurant (open 12-late Weds to Sat and 12-4 Sun). If you are looking for a fun day out for all the family, you can always visit Barleylands Farm Park, which is right next door to the campsite and open 10am to 4pm every day throughout Winter and 10am to 5pm every day throughout Summer
When camping you can also take advantage of our Stay and Play offer – 2 days worth of Farm Park tickets for the price of 1! Fancy something a bit more up close and personal? We also offer a VIP Experience, perfect for individuals or small groups, and can be tailored to your preferences.

Appreciated the cleanliness of the toilets and showers. Thoroughly enjoyed the Adventure golf. Very grateful to Lynn when she accommodated our change of departure time.
Location was great for what we wanted, clean facilities, didn't see any staff so cannot comment on staff friendliness, was good value for money
the staff were very helpful in planning the trip. easy access to local restaurants for dinner. neighbouring campers were very nice and here was no loud parties. toilets and showers were immaculate. Only reason it was a 4 not a 5/5 was the map showing drinking locations was wrong, and as first time campers that left us a bit uncertain as to whether the water was potable (which it was)
After a few awful premier inn stays we bought a tent Second try of it really pleased
We frequently use this site as it is convenient for us to get the bus from the site, generally in the past the toilets & showers are clean with plenty of toilet paper also the site is tidy. We also like to stay in the middle near the toilet block, but some times it is fully booked with long stays Motorhome & Caravans. Generally we like coming here but some things went wrong the last time we stayed, I am sure you will get this sorted, many thanks Ron Cornish.
Hi Ronald, Thank you for your feedback and taking the time to leave a review. Unfortuately we are having teething problems with our new cleaning company but we are doing our best to get this resolved quickly. We hope you decide to come back and stay again in the future.
Clean and open spaced pitches with good facilities
The only thing I can say is that there was no wheelie bin on the site where I was. Other than that it was good. I will book up again
We live local and wouldn’t have dreamed of going to Barley lands for camping because we didn’t know it was there. Now we know we will be booking regular.
Only one night, but a calm step toward Scotland.
Just as good as the first time. Lovely and clean environment plenty of space on pitches no long walking to toilets and showers we stayed on pitch 77 was a lovely field with horses in view not noisey
