The southern border of Ballater is formed by the River Dee, one of Scotland’s finest salmon rivers, and adjacent to the river lies Ballater Caravan Park.
On site, Ballater offers a well-appointed selection of hard touring stances with 16 amp electric hook-up. Fully serviced hard touring stances are also available, which come with 16 amp electric hook-up, water hook-up, and grey water waste facilities.
A quality toilet and shower block provides ample showers with free hot water and toilets fitted with water saving devices. As well as a dishwashing facility, a laundrette with washing and drying facilities adds further convenience for guests on site. Free complimentary WiFi is provided across the park.
The park has a designated baby changing facility and a well-maintained children’s outdoor play area. A selection of outdoor exercise equipment has also been set up which can be exclusively utilised at any time by adults staying on park.
In a conscious effort to respect and maintain the environment, solar panels have been installed to heat water onsite and recycling facilities have been distributed throughout the park for guests to avail of.
Near Ballater lies the Royal Castle of Balmoral, holiday home for the Royal Family. The charming railway station in the centre of Ballater, which was much used by visitors to Balmoral (especially Queen Victoria) is now a visitor and Tourist Information centre.
Ballater is not only located at the heart of one of the finest areas in Scotland but it is also a charming and busy little town. It has a surprisingly wide range of shops and good places to eat or drink just 5 minutes from the caravan park. Many of the shops display Royal Warrants – what better proof is there of good quality!
On the sporting front, there is a fine 18-hole golf course, bowling green and tennis courts and even (for cold weather) a curling rink. For those who like a stroll there are several beautiful and interesting – and easy – walks, including the ever-popular ‘Seven-bridges’ walk. The hills present greater challenges and nearby Loch Muick not only offers a delightful circular walk but also access to Lochnagar, one of the most popular of ‘Munros’.
Cycling of all sorts is available here with the local hills ideal for a spot of mountain biking while the conversion of the old railway into the Deeside Way enables a gentle flat ride right through to Aberdeen – 40 miles away. The Dee river is justly considered one of the great salmon rivers in Scotland while a host of local lochs offer the chance for trout fishing.

Great site in a beautiful locationClean and tidy with an immaculate toilet block and amazing showersA short walk to the town with shops and restaurantsLots of walks and cycles in the vicinity Plenty of places to visit and lots to do
Love staying at Ballater caravan park. Very clean facilities, lovely setting & a 5 minute walk into the village. Lots of fabulous bars & restaurants close by.
Have stayed at the campsite a few times. Always had a good experience. Very well maintained, spotless. The showers are superb, one of the best. Very near to all the local amenities, a short walk into the high st. With lots of shops and cafes. Golf course next to the site. Highly recommended , we will definitely stay again.
Another great week at Ballater. We are always get a great welcome when we arrive amd the staff are always informative and helpful. The facilities and amemnties are always clean and tidy and well organised. The pitches are so spacious and private with hedges and decorative fencing in abundance.Ballater has plenty shops and restaurants keenly priced a short walk away and the surrouding countryside has incredible walks and delightful scenery.Ballater caravan site never stands still the site is always investing in its future and the staff are passionate about thier site and I hope it wont be long until it this is recognised by as a 5 star site.
Great park, facilities amazing, communication good and great value for money. We had toured Scotland and this was our 8th campsite to date. However, a situation left a poor taste in our mouth. Guests would have benefited from clarity over grass association to pitches as instead of our neighbour letting us know we'd popped a chair on their pitch (which was surrounded by windbreakers, we'd believe to divide and segregate!), they reported us to the warden who came quite abruptly to let us know. A genuine mistake due to a lack of clear instructions which was poorly handled, which led to my family and I feeling uncomfortable during our visit if I'm honest. Needless to say, we went out to Ballater for dinner, woke up early and left.
As always first class week away in one of our favourite sites from easy check in to pitching up in one of the service pitches the site is well maintained wash rooms are spotless the site is situated in walking distance to the town which has everything you need Golf course also in walking distance and the many walks that are on your door stepThis is a first class site we recommend to everyone that we go twice a yearStaff are always there to help thank you all for your dedication Well done all see you again soon
Arriving at Ballater Caravan Park, we found checking in was handled politely and efficiently. We had booked a serviced hardstanding pitch which was very tidy and lots of space too for an awning. All pitches on the park had good spacing between units, were all tidy and well maintained, in fact, we thought the whole site was immaculate, the owners have gone to great lengths to make this a place a real gem. The toilet/ shower block was modern, extremely clean, hot showers, again, absolutely nothing to fault. Lots of other facilities on site provided too, their website may list them all. A small play area for the kiddies but no ball games are allowed on the site which I find makes common sense. There are many walks you can do from Ballater, the surroundings provide a stunning backdrop for your stay. Lots of wildlife to be seen , bring your camera! People in village welcoming, good pubs, cafes, shops for all your needs, we enjoyed our stay so much we will be booking for next year!
Awesome location for riding the mountain bike trails near Dunkeld. Facilities were some of the best we’ve seen - showers were brilliant. Big pitches. Easy check-in. Ballater itself was lovely. We were planning our next visit before we left.
