We’re proud to have one of the best pubs in Wensleydale, ‘The Friars Head’, onsite. Not only that, but our stunning holiday park also boasts a golf course and great park facilities, making it one of the best parks in North Yorkshire.

Akebar Park has been run by the same family for over 50 years and is a family-friendly touring site, ideal for touring caravans and motorhomes, with plenty of space for children to enjoy and with outstanding views over the open countryside.

Akebar Park's touring site is a great space for your family holiday, offering grass pitches with electric hook-up, along with a well-equipped children’s play area. The touring field has toilets and showers, washing up areas and chemical waste disposal facilities. We have an onsite shop with basic supplies, and larger supermarkets are located within just a 10-minute drive from Akebar. What’s more, our staff are always on hand to help you have an amazing time – so it’s really no wonder that we’re considered one of the best holiday parks in Yorkshire!

We are an award-winning park and have been awarded the David Bellamy Conservation Gold Award by the British Holiday & Home Parks Association. The award shows that as a park we have taken steps to manage our land as a haven for wildlife; reduce our use of energy and water; reduce, reuse and recycle the waste we produce and support our local community. We have also featured in the Top 100 Sites in recent years.

All customers must report to reception on arrival, where we will be happy to check you in and let you know where your pitch is. Our wardens will be on hand to guide you and help you settle in. Our guests always enjoy their stay here, as we’re an ideal base for walking, cycling and fishing.

This area of the park is only for touring caravans and motorhomes and offers spacious hardstanding pitches with 16 amp electric hook up. It is a very flat area, making pitching up hassle free. Overlooking the fields, you may see a sheep or two!

Overall a great stay, lovely site and the friars head had entertainment on outside so enjoyed that. Pitches spacious and level. Play park good for kids. THE SHOWERS… quite traumatic. Freezing cold. Really let the site down. Seems to have been a common problem over the years having read the reviews on our return. On day two I mentioned it to reception and was told they were broken but have been fixed, tried again the following day, still cold. Also, Spoke to lots of other people during our stay who were all left unimpressed. Otherwise , A lovely weekend in a lovely area.

Site was clean quiet and a really relaxing. The only problem while we were there was the showers had no hot water, we informed the site who said we were not the first to raise the issue.The family showers had warm water but the men and women's didn't for the whole weekend.Hopefully this was just a one off, apart from that we would come again and recommend to others.

The caravan we hired was of first class category with every kitchen appliance available. Location was superb for our needs with golf facilities and public house very close. Travelling to other villages for sightseeing and food was no problem. Staff ,from groundsmen to office staff were superb and very friendly. Only downside to our visit was the bedsheet had paw prints on and long black hairs? ..but this did not spoil our stay as van was always lovely and warm due to the superb heating.
