One of the best touring caravan parks the Yorkshire Dales has to offer, Akebar Park is the most exceptional family-friendly park. We’re proud to have one of the best pubs in Wensleydale, ‘The Friars Head’, onsite. Not only that, but our stunning holiday park also boasts a golf course and great park facilities, making it one of the best parks in North Yorkshire.

Akebar Park has been run by the same family for over 50 years and is a family-friendly touring site, ideal for touring caravans and motorhomes, with plenty of space for children to enjoy and with outstanding views over the open countryside.

Akebar Park's touring site is a great space for your family holiday, offering grass pitches with electric hook-up, along with a well-equipped children’s play area. The touring field has toilets and showers, washing up areas and chemical waste disposal facilities. We have an onsite shop with basic supplies, and larger supermarkets are located within just a 10-minute drive from Akebar. What’s more, our staff are always on hand to help you have an amazing time – so it’s really no wonder that we’re considered one of the best holiday parks in Yorkshire!

We are an award-winning park and have been awarded the David Bellamy Conservation Gold Award by the British Holiday & Home Parks Association. The award shows that as a park we have taken steps to manage our land as a haven for wildlife; reduce our use of energy and water; reduce, reuse and recycle the waste we produce and support our local community. We have also featured in the Top 100 Sites in recent years.

All customers must report to reception on arrival, where we will be happy to check you in and let you know where your pitch is. Our wardens will be on hand to guide you and help you settle in. Our guests always enjoy their stay here, as we’re an ideal base for walking, cycling and fishing.

This area of the park is only for touring caravans and motorhomes and offers spacious hardstanding pitches with 16 amp electric hook up. It is a very flat area, making pitching up hassle free. Overlooking the fields, you may see a sheep or two!

Lovely park, so pretty. Lovely facilities, great golf course and friendly helpful staff. Caravans clean and well stocked my only suggestion for improvement was the beds weren’t that comfortable, normal for caravan rentals but I have had better.

The showers are poor. Did not spray on you properly and got your clothes wet.Lighting is poor very dark when walking from touring to friars head had to take a torch.Tall street light outside our caravan not working reported came to clean but did not work reported again not working.Friars head was lovely all staff friendly and food was great (parmo night).

Overall a good weekend, food at the friars head was excellent on both occasions, the site was clean and tidy, toilets were clean, the only complaint we had is that the showers were cold no matter what time we tried to use them.

A great few days away

We had a great time staying at Akebar Park. Staff were friendly and lodge was lovely and clean and within a great setting. My daughter liked the play area and the mini golf. We also made friends with the resident ducks that would come to see us. Would have loved to have been able to book a table in the Friars Head but it was completely booked up for the time we were here so found food elsewhere in the places we visited including Whitby, York and the nearby Bolton Arms in Leyburn. A great few days away.

While the reception and bar area looked great the touring pitches were disappointing uneven on large gravel , no Wi-Fi or television signal phone signal very poor . The toilet area was adequate but the showers need an update in my opinion , most of the shower heads seemed to be aiming at the door making it hard to find anywhere for your dry clothes.We booked three nights but only stayed the one which was disappointing because I never got to play the golf course ,sorry for being so negative but you asked for my opinion hope this helps you service

Staff very friendly, close to amenities, felt very safe, overall very nice, the only problem was we were in a motorhome and it's the first time I've been to a caravan park and never had a grey water waste drain we had to walk to the toilet area to wash the dishes which was not very nice when it was raining really heavily!
