Park Description

We provide camping at two locations around the farmhouse hub facilities; a Certified Location Caravan & Camping Club site with hard standing for five units accessed through the Yorkshire Dales National Park Car Park, meadowland tent pitches for tents and trailers by the river and Dales Way footpath behind the farmhouse, and two comfortable camping pods.

The National Trust bought Heber Farm in 1994 to help preserve it as the last working farm in the village.

Tenanted by us since then, the farm keeps us busy with 600 sheep, plus cattle including a developing herd of Belted Galloways. As hill farming becomes less able to survive commercially in today’s economy the new herd provides a more viable breed, naturally equipped to live outdoors without the costs associated with indoor accommodation and feeding.

Garry is on the steering group for the Yorkshire Dales National Park looking at ‘higher nature farming’ practices as a means to long term sustainable farming methods that benefit the environment.

A spectacular setting surrounded be beautiful views/ countryside and walks. Be prepared to walk a little way from your hard standing hook up spot , but the facilities are really very good when you get there. Friendly caring and knowledgeable host who really wants you... We stayed at Buckden Camping for 4 nights and despite the inclement weather, loved every minute. The campervan/motorhome pitches, hidden away through a gate, off the public car park, are a good size, very peaceful and all have beautiful views of the stunning Yorkshire Dales. The shower and toilet block, a short 2 minute walk from the campervan field (through the car park, over the road, on the main farm) was always immaculately clean with plenty of hot water. There was also lots of hand gel on site and it was obvious the owners had taken lots of care to keep things as covid safe as possible. The owners were very friendly and helpful, giving advice on local walks, places to eat and even provided drying racks and heaters for our very wet clothing after a particularly wet day! The local pub served good quality food and is very conveniently located being only a stones throw away from the site. The staff there were friendly and the local brews very good. The campsite is in a great location for several walks (we did a different one every day starting from the carpark) and the scenery is quite breathtaking. We'd definitely recommend this site, it's a little gem, and we'd love to stay there again soon......although hopefully the weather will be a little kinder to us next time. Many thanks to Gill (the owner) who went out of her way to make our stay a happy one. Great place to stay....we loved it!

"Lovely place to stay in Upper Wharfedale"

M Clarke - Stayed with partner, Oct 2020

The location of this cl site is beautiful and wonderful for walks/scenery. The site itself could do with a little bit more hard standing material on the pitches as the ground gets wet and muddy after heavy rain but apart from that it is a lovely place to stay if you... "Lovely people, lovely place"

Gillian could not have been more helpful when I arrived. Much appreciated after a long journey. The site is in a beautiful location and is very well cared for without being 'over-manicured' like some big sites. Perfect for a relaxing camping trip. Would definitely... Nice spot for the ultimate in peace and quiet. All due to no TV , no phone signal and no wifi unless in farm area. Useful village shop.
