Buckden Camping

Park Description

We provide camping at two locations around the farmhouse hub facilities; a Certified Location Caravan & Camping Club site with hard standing for five units accessed through the Yorkshire Dales National Park Car Park, meadowland tent pitches for tents and trailers by the river and Dales Way footpath behind the farmhouse, and two comfortable camping pods.

The National Trust bought Heber Farm in 1994 to help preserve it as the last working farm in the village.

Tenanted by us since then, the farm keeps us busy with 600 sheep, plus cattle including a developing herd of Belted Galloways. As hill farming becomes less able to survive commercially in today’s economy the new herd provides a more viable breed, naturally equipped to live outdoors without the costs associated with indoor accommodation and feeding.

Garry is on the steering group for the Yorkshire Dales National Park looking at ‘higher nature farming’ practices as a means to long term sustainable farming methods that benefit the environment.

Opening Dates

"Beautiful, peaceful and a joy to visit"

Anonymous - Stayed with family, May 2021

We had a lovely week here - were blessed by the weather - and enjoyed the peace, broken only by the birds - especially the crowd, but also swallows, housemartins, sparrows, tits etc.. and, of course, it's a great place for walking

Communication with the site is only available via email when on site as there is no mobile phone signal in the area. If you are considering staying at this site and have a twin axle caravan you my find difficulty in accessing the site. The owners were extremely helpful as we couldn't access the site due to our low level and length of our caravan (7.8 Mtr). Gary arrived with his tractor and managed to get us on the site. Gillian and Gary were also there to assist us when we left. We couldn't have wished for more attention. There is an excellent Wi-Fi signal (Gillian will give you the pass code) and also excellent satellite signal. Plenty of walks in the area with different levels of difficulty. Views from the site are also excellent. Visited the small local shop which is usually only open in the mornings and only takes cash. Also visited the local inn for a meal. Service was rather slow but the food was OK (Usual pub menu). Prices not to high (Meal for 2 with drinks was £28). Travelling to the site is through narrow roads so be careful of the numerous cyclists in the area during weekend and bank holidays. Overall we intend to return but this time we will book Gary's tractor.

"Idyllic location and nice size site"

Authentic rustic but great standards and perfect setting. We like the intimate feel and the village of Buckden is gorgeous. Love the shared fridge & freezer amenity. Highly recommend.

The pitches are very spacious, the facilities excellent, staff very welcoming and the scenery surrounding is absolutely beautiful. There are plenty of walks around the site and we have visited Kilnsey Park at Wharfedale which is excellent for all the family. We are looking forward to our next stay at Buckden Farm next month.

Facilities clean and plenty, fridges a great help when camping. Staff really helpful. Nothing to do with site...but Nearby pub just over road disappointing, booked table 3 weeks in advance for 7pm and nothing left hardly from menu, children struggled with options available, pricey too may be worth venturing a little further by car.

He took us to our pitch and gave us a run down of how the site runs. The site was clean and well cared for. Whilst we sometimes had to wait for the toilet/shower, the views whilst waiting were lovely. The site is small and slightly sloppy, but that did not hinder our experience. We will return for sure.

"A lovely quiet site for campervans in beautiful surroundings"

S Clapham - Stayed with partner, May 2021

The site for campervans is a lovely quiet site in the village of Buckden. The warden was very helpful and friendly. Gave us information on a lovely walk to see waterfalls that otherwise we would not have found. Wil be going back again for sure.
