Park Description

We provide camping at two locations around the farmhouse hub facilities; a Certified Location Caravan & Camping Club site with hard standing for five units accessed through the Yorkshire Dales National Park Car Park, meadowland tent pitches for tents and trailers by the river and Dales Way footpath behind the farmhouse, and two comfortable camping pods.

The National Trust bought Heber Farm in 1994 to help preserve it as the last working farm in the village.

Tenanted by us since then, the farm keeps us busy with 600 sheep, plus cattle including a developing herd of Belted Galloways. As hill farming becomes less able to survive commercially in today’s economy the new herd provides a more viable breed, naturally equipped to live outdoors without the costs associated with indoor accommodation and feeding.

Garry is on the steering group for the Yorkshire Dales National Park looking at ‘higher nature farming’ practices as a means to long term sustainable farming methods that benefit the environment.

"Great little site"

Excellent site for a very quiet stay. Minimal facilities, but all you need if you are in a camper or caravan. What's more, it is helping the farmers maintain the Dales in a traditional fashion. What's more, it is helping the farmers maintain the Dales in a traditional fashion. Very friendly, even let the dogs stay for free as a Christmas present. The site has stunning views of Wharfdale and there are walks immediately out of the gate.

The pods are basic but what was advertised si I knew what to bring for comfort. Although there was a heater it was cold( visited in cold snap in November) so was glad I brought my own fan heater. There was easy access to local walks. The pub across the road was open, said closed online. I did not explore all the facilities. Just used the shower, toilet and washing up facilities. The owner came over and showed me local attractions and facilities using a photo album which was a brilliant idea! Very quiet. There is little phone signal, but that is part of the attraction. On top of Buckden Pike got a good signal! Assured that even in season there are limited pitches to match facilities and keep site quiet and special.

Stopped here in one of the pods @ halloween. Very warm & cosy, lovely wash/shower facilities. The ideal spot to stop over on a dales hike. We'll be back.

It’s the second time we have stayed here and brought our dog too. The pods are great and the facilities are too plus a dog wash area. It is easy to find with great views and good location to head straight out onto the hills or to the next villages. The only thing I would say is the second time we stayed 5 months later you could tell it had had its first season with ware and tear which I’m sure the owners will carry out work during low season. This will not put us off further visits next year as it’s to be expected. It’s a smallish and intermit place almost like a hidden gem with very welcoming owners.
