Park Description

We provide camping at two locations around the farmhouse hub facilities; a Certified Location Caravan & Camping Club site with hard standing for five units accessed through the Yorkshire Dales National Park Car Park, meadowland tent pitches for tents and trailers by the river and Dales Way footpath behind the farmhouse, and two comfortable camping pods.

The National Trust bought Heber Farm in 1994 to help preserve it as the last working farm in the village.

Tenanted by us since then, the farm keeps us busy with 600 sheep, plus cattle including a developing herd of Belted Galloways. As hill farming becomes less able to survive commercially in today’s economy the new herd provides a more viable breed, naturally equipped to live outdoors without the costs associated with indoor accommodation and feeding.

Garry is on the steering group for the Yorkshire Dales National Park looking at ‘higher nature farming’ practices as a means to long term sustainable farming methods that benefit the environment.

Opening Dates

We stayed at Buckden Camping for 1 night during our Dales Way walking holiday. We were met by John who was incredibly friendly and helpful. The facilities were exceptionally clean and unique in that the toilet and showers were in a pod. Other facilities were also available near the farm house and were also exceptionally clean. There were complimentary tea and coffee facilities and also the use of a small kitchen with fridge and microwave. It’s little touches like this that make campsites so special. We met the owner Gill the next morning and she was also very lovely, friendly and helpful. This is a great campsite, we would definitely recommend it and will definitely return.

This is a great campsite, and back to the natural activities of what the Yorkshire Dales has to offer. Brilliant.

We stayed in our campervan on the dedicated site - gently sloping grass with plenty of space between vans. A very quiet site but easy access to the pretty village with a nice pub and basic village shop. Showers and toilets are across the road in the farm - a shortish 150 metre walk - these were clean and regularly checked by the owners. Excellent walking routes from the site including access to the Dales Way.

"Nice even in the rain"

Ms C Wilson - Stayed with family, May 2019

This was our second stay at this campsite. It is a lovely, friendly campsite with very helpful staff. The washing facilities are clean. There is a kettle and microwave for use of campers. The washing facilities are clean. There is a kettle and microwave for use of campers. My daughter loved Pixie the cat. Even though it was a rainy few days we still had a great time. When it stopped raining we had a couple of lovely walks along to Hubberholme and up the hill towards Litton. We had a trip into Skipton when it was very rainy and went to the castle which was very impressive. A lovely campsite in a lovely part of the country.

Booked this little gem for our 6 night break. We were helped by Gary when we arrived to site our van which was most helpful. Although the weather was bad we still enjoyed our stay

"Buckden camping"

J Wood - Stayed with family, May 2019

This is a lovely isolated spot, facilities very clean and tidy, ok if your kids like being outdoors with no other attractions. Our children spent hours skimming stones in the river and fishing with their nets which were provided by the hosts.... a lovely touch.... nice... Fab walks and scenery. Kids and adults loved it we’d return even if the weather wasn’t the best. I would give the weekend a four star rating x
