Buckden Camping

Park Description

We provide camping at two locations around the farmhouse hub facilities; a Certified Location Caravan & Camping Club site with hard standing for five units accessed through the Yorkshire Dales National Park Car Park, meadowland tent pitches for tents and trailers by the river and Dales Way footpath behind the farmhouse, and two comfortable camping pods.

The National Trust bought Heber Farm in 1994 to help preserve it as the last working farm in the village.

Tenanted by us since then, the farm keeps us busy with 600 sheep, plus cattle including a developing herd of Belted Galloways. As hill farming becomes less able to survive commercially in today’s economy the new herd provides a more viable breed, naturally equipped to live outdoors without the costs associated with indoor accommodation and feeding.

Garry is on the steering group for the Yorkshire Dales National Park looking at ‘higher nature farming’ practices as a means to long term sustainable farming methods that benefit the environment.

The location was stunning, a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Excellent facilities, a little distance from the field. Gill and her team were very helpful and friendly.

This little campsite is in such a beautiful area with wonderful walks from the campsite. Lots of space betwen units, in order to make use of the flattest parts of the campsite. We received a warm, friendly welcome and were assured of any assisstance if required.

About a mile's walk to The George at Hubberholme with a warm welcome from Ed and Jackie which is highly recommended. Our second stay, we will definitely be back!

The pitch was spacious for our camper van, a little sloping so you will need chocks. There were lovely walks from the site and plenty of pubs within a 5 mile radius. The owner Gill was attentive and came each day to check all was well. The manager too was very helpful. The showers (a couple of minutes walk) were spotless clean. The bathroom pod was fab. Tip; take ear plugs! The nesting crows were noisy from 4am.
