"The good and the bad at the end of November"

M Ryder - Stayed with friends, Nov 2019

The staff were outstanding and the camp site excellent. The boys loved it (aged 13 and 10), especially the "friendly" swans wanting food. The only downside was the continuous noise from the M5 about half a mile away.

It was out of season so facilities were closed and we knew this when we booked. Also the Avon was in flood that weekend but the owner kept in contact letting us know pitches were still accessible. It looks a great place to visit in the summer with lots of water activities. We intend to visit again in the summer and perhaps bring our grandsons.

Though it does seem more geared towards caravans and motor homes than tents. The bar area and club house is a great facility and the staff are very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Unfortunately we had atrocious weather during our weeks camping. The weather itself didn’t bother us, the tent was dry and warm and we were well set up for it. However the washing facilities were a very cold, unheated, and unappealing place to go. We refrained from showering and resorted to wet wipes for the trip as the thought of getting the children undressed and having them shivering whilst wet was unthinkable. The hand dryer was also freezing and did little to help. The area for washing your pots was uncovered so this task was made more miserable by a further, unnecessary soaking to merely keep you cups clean! This was all nothing though to the boggy, muddy, water logged trek to the block. A paved/gravel walkway to the block would be much more sensible to prevent this and by the end of of our stay the ducks were able to swim in the fields.
