Castle Cary Holiday Park

70 Reviews

Park Description

For that quiet and relaxing holiday in the heart of romantic Galloway. Castle Cary has much to offer, and constantly adds to and improves its facilities year after year. We can now offer a range of seasonal timber clad lodges and winterised all season holiday homes.

At the centre of our holiday park lies an old Scottish baronial-style castle dating from around 1580. The Laird’s Inn, converted from part of the old castle, is most welcoming with it’s ‘olde worlde’ charm, created by a décor of wooden beams, stone walls and open fires.

On a sunny day you can sit, drink, eat and relax on its large terrace, enjoying magnificent panoramic views over fields, woodlands and the estuary of the river Cree.

A comprehensive range of facilities and activities awaits you on site. We have normal hard-standing pitches with electricity and water connections for tourers or Super Deluxe touring pitches with drainage, TV aerial connection, dyke or fence and hedge separation.

We have a range of 2 and 3 rental accommodation available for nightly stays (3 night minimum stay). Some of our units are pet friendly.

Opening Dates

Open all year.

For Touring and Camping Bookings we require a deposit of 25% to secure your booking with balance payable 4 weeks prior to arrival. For our Rental Accommodation, A £50 deposit is required per week stay with balance payable 4 weeks prior to arrival.

Mould in all shower cubicles, cold, and lacking hand washing hot water and soap. On the plus side disabled facility was a heated wet room and was fine. Pitches are spacious and maintained with water and drainage available for tourers. The Lairds Inn (on-site bar) serves very nice food and the staff are very friendly. All in all this site has great potential for repeat business once the showers are ripped out and replaced to a much better standard. Reading other reviews seems to be the showers are the downside and have been for some time, come on management read the reviews and please put a plan in place, give the staff a site to be proud of, and we will return once again.

"Great setting and plenty of wildlife"

Very pleasant Park with friendly staff just the right size for nice relaxing holiday. We seen red squirrels, deer, fox and plenty of birds on the site so it's a great place for wild life. Well recommended

"Could be great"

Although we enjoyed our stay, and would consider staying again, the park in general lacked attention to detail. The chemical toilet had excrement and toilet tissue on the floor all around it all the time we were there. I appreciate that this would have been left there by a guest, but not acceptable that it wasn't cleaned in three days. The washrooms however are the worst I have seen in a long time. You are aware of this without doubt. They really let the site down especially the showers. The onsite inn is superb. Our welcome at reception was warm, spend some money on the rear of the park as well as the front. Walks from park are lovely. Could be great, but needs attention to detail

The shower & toilet blocks require to be refurbished, showers were mouldy & dirty, water was not hot enough just barely 40*c, one of the shower heads was so dirty it was black with mould which creates a great environment for legionella. Castle Cary park is a very clean and tidy park with a small outdoor play park onsite for younger children (3-8or9) year olds.my only problem was that my daughter has just became a teenager and had relatively not so much to do. Reception was far to away from actual park. Entertainment facilities are rather limited although there is an onsite public house that serve amazing food throughout the season and at reasonable prices. You can also enjoy a dip in the pool. Indoor or outdoor. Although the pools are small and I had never used them they always seemed busy and was surrounded by a privacy fence. Smart idea!! . There is a snack bar and small games room within the pool area which we would use normally for breakfast or lunch and can honestly say food served was always fantastic. Only problem it closed at 7 pm which in my opinion was slightly to early!!all staff within the park , from the pub to the snack bar to reception were always friendly and as helpful as possible. I shall be keeping my tourer there for another year (2020). Price is very reasonable, and the park is definitely a great base for exploring the south west of Scotland where there are many many things to do especially if you are a hill walker or a mountain biker. Overall cleanliness was fantastic, and the site layout is great for meeting new people but also gives you the privacy in every pitch if required. Overall would definitely recommend castle Cary caravan site to anyone wishing a quiet calm holiday or very outdoor people. Excellent place.

Lovely site. Direct access to Lairds Inn is a real bonus - a gem of a pub. Lovely site and setting. WC facilities could be cleaner.
