Castle Cary Holiday Park

88 Reviews

Park Description

For that quiet and relaxing holiday in the heart of romantic Galloway. Castle Cary has much to offer, and constantly adds to and improves its facilities year after year. We can now offer a range of seasonal timber clad lodges and winterised all season holiday homes.

At the centre of our holiday park lies an old Scottish baronial-style castle dating from around 1580. The Laird’s Inn, converted from part of the old castle, is most welcoming with it’s ‘olde worlde’ charm, created by a décor of wooden beams, stone walls and open fires.

On a sunny day you can sit, drink, eat and relax on its large terrace, enjoying magnificent panoramic views over fields, woodlands and the estuary of the river Cree.

A comprehensive range of facilities and activities awaits you on site. We have normal hard-standing pitches with electricity and water connections for tourers or Super Deluxe touring pitches with drainage, TV aerial connection, dyke or fence and hedge separation.

We have a range of 2 and 3 rental accommodation available for nightly stays (3 night minimum stay). Some of our units are pet friendly.

Opening Dates

Open all year.

For Touring and Camping Bookings we require a deposit of 25% to secure your booking with balance payable 4 weeks prior to arrival. For our Rental Accommodation, A £50 deposit is required per week stay with balance payable 4 weeks prior to arrival.

"Whats lets it down"

Mrs Hendry - Stayed with friends, Jan 2019

Nice park with good layout which was let down by the poor toilet and shower facilities. Although they were nice and clean there was a need to upgrade the showers especially the drainage, trays and sealant.

"New year visit."

This was our second visit to the site in a matter of months. Really like this site and the surrounding area. Was very disappointed with the state of the toilets and shower facilities. Very tired and run down, lights not working in toilets and the showers and no hot water on several occasions. The park is very badly lit which is a bit treacherous when out walking at night. On our arrival the electricity wasn't working and the TV Ariel connection was broken, moved pitches and still had a faulty TV connection. No TV at all on our visit. The member if staff who we spoke to said they were always getting broken as people were pulling our the connection wrongly. Feel this is just basic maintenance.. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely food and very reasonable at the lairds inn. Lovely area, lovely countryside. Will definitely be back at this site, maybe in the summer and see it at its best.

Cracking site, very reasonable prices and the pub is good . Seasonal prices are hard to beat .

"Nice park shame about the on site pub"

Having stayed here last year I was looking forward to another excellent visit (albeit the Inn had new patrons) but it turned out to be a poor choice. The Inn was not open when it said it would be, no notice or explanation given. The meal served to me on New years eve (which was supposed to be a party, and serving normal menu food, I asked!) was bland and I felt like I was an inconvenience, so left after eating very little. This despite being informed the evening was a ticket event the evening before and right up till lunch time that day. I ate here twice the first time was fine, but the second time I found it Unwelcoming, overpriced and the poorly stocked bar (no lager on new years eve, plenty of gin if that's your thing, but not a great choice otherwise. What was an excellent place last year was poor in comparison this year, I left two days earlier than planned, and I CANNOT see me returning any time soon. Although I said I would not reccomend site, This is a nice site but is being spoiled by the Inn on site. *PS. did e-mail site directly but as of 7th Jan 2019 have had no response.*

"Great place to stay."

Mr G McAllister - Stayed with partner, Dec 2018

Great place for a family during the summer. Good for a new year getaway for couples. staff are very friendly and helpful. our electric hook-up kept tripping whenever we switched on the kettle which would not be a problem if we could have just jumped out and switched... Great place for a family during the summer. Good for a new year getaway for couples. staff are very friendly and helpful. our electric hook-up kept tripping whenever we switched on the kettle which would not be a problem if we could have just jumped out and switched it back on but the trip switches are in a locked box which meant we had to phone the warden each time. she was a lovely woman who didn't seem to mind doing this but I felt bad phoning her all the time. it tripped on new years morning while we were making breakfast and I just plugged into the pitch beside me because I didn't want to call her out on new years morning. I also wasn't sure where to dump my waste water. I ended up pouring it down the chemical toilet bit. this is OK if you're fit and strong enough to lift it up as the waste water containers are quite heavy. maybe I just didn't see the right place. other than those two wee things the place was great and we will be back for the summer with the grandkids and then back again in the new year by ourselves. the lairds lounge serves nice food and they are reasonably priced for both food and drinks and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. It was almost like walking into your local.

Very pleasantly surprised at the toilet and shower blocks. We went off season and it was very, very quiet, which was what we wanted.
