"Lovely site"

S Proctor - Stayed with partner, Feb 2020

Had a lovely weekend here, toilets and showers were lovely, quite a distance if your disabled or elderly. Club/pub is great, nice food and good prices. We visited in the middle of a storm weekend so didn’t see much of the local area unfortunately

We arrived on site along with Storm Dennis, so we did not pick the best of weekends regarding the weather, we were made more than welcome by reception and given all the site info we needed, the pitch was a fully serviced model so with the exception of hard wire TV connection all was good. The shower/toilet block was immaculate with gratefully acceptable hot water considering the weather outside, if there is a fault it is the area just where you change before/after your shower gets wet once te shower has been used, so soggy socks and trouser bottoms. We had our grandchildren with us and trying to get them off the play area was a daily problem even with the bad weather, all in all I can highly recommend the site and what lovely people..

We had a touring caravan a few years ago, but let it go because we were going abroad on a big holiday and didn't want the expense of keeping it. We have now bought a brand new caravan and we were picking it up on the Friday afternoon, we wanted to test it out straight away so we booked Claylands has it was not too far away and we new it was an excellent site. My husband is a keen fisherman and that's one of the reasons we initially came here, he tells me it is a very good lake, he didn't fish this time though (too cold in January). We stayed in the van Friday night, but Saturday we thought we would walk to the bus stop and go to Lancaster for lunch. The road to the bus is good but a but of a trek for me as I have slight mobility issues. In the evening we went to the onsite pub, there was no entertainment as it was too early in the season but there were plenty of people in and a lively atmosphere. The entertainment will start in March I think. Sunday, we packed up and came home. We will definitely be back, its a lovely site and only an hour or so from home.
