"Great few days"

Anonymous - Stayed with partner, Sep 2020

We stayed at Haw Wood in September 2020 in the midst of Covid Pandemic. The cleanliness of the washrooms was fantastic - they were never full and always spotlessly clean.

As two people in our seventies who have almost always done wild camping, we don't really like staying on organised sites but now need to have a bit more comfort. The things which helped us to feel at home here were having a log fire in a brazier each night, and being given enough space around us not to feel hemmed in. We found staff pleasant and helpful.

"Excellent base to explore the Suffolk coast and local area"

We had top quality weather and this certainly helped - It would have been a different story if we had needed to pack our canvas topped trailer tent in the rain! Helpful and approachable site staff made this and easy site to stay at - good solid and sensible ground rules, but not put over in a controlled way. More a simple guide. Thus easy for everyone to comply with sensible recommendations during this current coronavirus pandemic. This went for everywhere that we visited whilst on this short break, from excellent local pubs for dinner, to the beautiful towns and villages we stopped off at along the way. A more simple way (of life), is seems, is still possible.

Unfortunately I had picked up a puncture on my bike and I asked in the shop if they had a puncture repair kit but they had sold out. However a very friendly and helpful warden offered to fix it for me. I wheeled my bike up to the shop and in less than an item he had fixed it for me. What fantastic customer service. This was great as there is a lovely bakery at the end of the road, so this enabled me to get on my bike and head up there. The site is very peaceful despite only being just off the A12. It is well situated to visit local beaches but is easier if you have a car. We have a Motorhome and like to walk to places and a lot are just a bit too far to walk too. Would definitely return and would recommend

"Some things could be better"

Mr S Wade - Stayed with partner, Sep 2020

The site is large with a lot of people staying, it is very surprising that there are not more waste disposal points around the site, just one . It was disappointing to see that there was no system in place to control the numbers in the washrooms during the Pandemic.
