A grand base for exploring the Dales

Holmes, Stephen & Joy - 10/04/2024

This site is beautifully situated in a quiet valley with the opportunity for walking in all directions. Circular walks abound offering easy access to moorland, riverside, stonewalled fields (currently full of new lambs) and typically ancient villages with great tea shops. It is a mile to walk to the local Spar and the spot where you can catch the local bus services up and down the dale to further away. Anywhere you drive is stunningly beautiful, opening the way to the other dales and historic market towns. Wood Nook is a quiet site with clean toilet blocks based around the farmhouse cobbled yard. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The recent start up of weekend morning barista coffee/tea , danish pastries and bacon or sausage butties is a lovely treat, with pizzas of your choice in the evening finishing off a grand day out in Wharfedale. If you are looking for peace and quiet, a safe place for children to run free, curlews, lapwings and constant birdsong, then this is for yo

Wood Nook - first timers

Totally fabulous expression. First stop over in a rented motorhome, Hayley and Michael were so friendly and helpful, from the initial enquiry, finding us a single night pitch, explaining how the site works for a motorhome, to freshly made creme egg brownies and homemade sticky toffee puddings on arrival. Great facilities in a lovely location with lovely people. Strongly recommended.

Excellent site in stunning location

We can’t thank the staff enough for being able to fit us in at such short notice! We’d booked a site in Northumberland for Easter but they cancelled our pitch the day before due to it being waterlogged. We’ve stayed at Wood nook before and didn’t hesitate to contact them to check availability. The 11 mile walk from the site to Kilnsey and Grassington was stunning and would highly recommend. We also caught the bus to Skipton and visited the castle. We had a different weekend than expected but thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Lovely little site friendly owners in the Hart of Yorkshire great walks of site .only fault is the mens toilets had no toilet brushes so the toilets got a bit messy and I can understand why if you can't clean the bowl after yourself for the next person's use and they only were cleaned on a evening so we're in a mess all day

Thanks for your review, glad you enjoyed the walks available from the park. Ref toilet brushes - we fully agree with you that it would be advantageous to have a brush in each cubicle. However, having had toilet brushes in the cubicles for many years the sad fact is that a significant proportion of the population seem blissfully unaware of how a toilet brush should be used so we end up with the brush and it's holder 'contaminated with what it should have been used to wash away' - if you get my meaning, which can become a health hazard - especially when children are around. For info we usually clean the toilets at least twice a day, around lunchtime and again in the late evening plus other checks throughout the day in the main season. Your visit was in March when there are times we only do a clean once a day as the park is much quieter and the toilets get far less use.

First Time Campervanners

The site itself was lovely and in a wonderful rural setting. All the facilities are spotless and only a short distance from the pitches and the owners of the site could not have been more friendly and helpful.Value for money is excellent with a refund on any unused electric courtesy of a metered supply. The site is very safe with barrier access (number plate recognition) and about a 10/15min walk into Grassington itself for Pubs etc.I would not hesitate to stay here again and look forward to my return in the near future.

Idylic picturesque surroundings.

Jinkinson, Jayne - 20/03/2024

Site in a beautiful tranquil spot. Pub Old Hall Inn about a 20 minute walk down the lane. Grassington a must see, short bus ride away, but check timetables, rural service. We have a 7m MOHO, initial concerns on the approach as its narrow, (arrival and depart times well managed so takes the angst away). EHU on card, clear instructions and guide to Kwh purchased very useful. Site run by the same friendly family for 50 years, Hayley First Aid trained and First Aid Trainer. Very clean facilities. Showers on push button. Dogs on leads on site, BUT an enclosed woodland walk attached to site, so dogs can run free. The Coffee Nook opens soon (Mar 2024)serving Danish Pastries and coffee, we were lucky enough to be there on the trial morning, Danish was delish and cappuccino spot on. PIzzas at the Pizza Nook on site, start Easter Weekend. Owners go above and beyond💛 BIG TY. Highly reccommended.

EHU not up to the job

Paget, Katie - 14/03/2024

We do not think the site was really ready to be opened. The manager could not deal with all the electric hook up problems…you could not use more than one appliance at a time in your van eg: if you had the lights on, you could not run the kettle! The electric was continually tripping. The toilets and showers were clean, but unfortunately the showers only ran cold, which wasn’t ideal on very cold and damp March mornings.Hopefully in the future they will iron out these problems, but unfortunately we will definitely NOT be returning any time soon.

Thanks for your review. To correct you about the electric hook up; We clearly state on our website, our paper brochure, and our booking confirmations to you that our electric hook up supply is rated at a MAXIMUM supply of 10 amps. It is also stated on your metered electric hook up instruction sheet which you are given on your arrival. We can't do any more! When you came down to complain about the electric tripping you stated to me that you had put on your kettle, heating, and microwave at the same time. Assuming your kettle is a standard household kettle at approx 2100 watts that alone requires approaching 9 amps. Your heating will be similar, and your microwave will, require at least another 5 amps. So you were trying to get well over 20 amps out of a 10 amp supply - it was never likely not to trip. Additionally, for your info, if your kettle was a modern 'rapid boil' variety at 3000 watts the kettle on its own then requires over 12 amps. There was a fault with the showers which we apologised for and put right.
